Let’s see…

EPA studies indicate natural gas produces much lower amounts of nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide than burning coal. In fact, compared to the avg. air emissions from coal-fired generation, natural gas produces about half the carbon dioxide, less than 1/3 as much less nitrogen oxides and 1% as much sulfur oxides.

The Worldwatch Institute, using the IPCC standard, notes that GHG emissions from natural-gas-fired power plants are 47% less than coal-fired generating facilities.

I hope for Dunkirk taxpayers' sakes the plant stays...

People are still living in the fantasy that the plant will be saved huh? Lets face it people they were just throwing us a bone to keep us calm while they plan the total shut down. No company in it's right mind would want to stay in WNY, and none are coming here. you can dislike this all you want but the harsh reality is High taxes and insane union saleries and demands have made WNY a bad place for business. Until the leaders of NY and WNY get their heads out of that dark smelly place it's NOT going to change either.

For sure we want to power the Dunkirk plant with natural gas. It emits more water than coal and water is a wonderful greenhouse gas.
