Besides being a poorly written article, does Anna Frederickson have any idea what is really going on? I do agree having a village police department is very beneficial. But if she was serious about wanting to save money you would think she would do the right thing and either have the chief take calls during the 7-3p shift and use the other part timers to cover 3-11 and 11-7. I mean why have someone making that kind of money just sitting in the office? Does the streets Supervisor just sit in the office while his guys are out working? No. Lets not kid ourselves, those incident numbers do not measure crime in the village. The 14,000 incident numbers Anna is referring too, most likely include about 10,000 house checks and V&T stops. If the village board is serious about saving the police dept and saving taxpayers money, you definately have to see the big picture and use your manpower you have more wisely.

Most of the time the Police are just sitting by bars and clubs just waiting for customers to come out and Harass them.Pulling cars over for petty stuff but then its just a maybarry Barney cop town. There just scaring people from coming to that town and spending money.

Bystander1-they do more than what you think and how do you know what they are pulling cars over for? You shouldn't just assume.

I grew up and lived in that village (the armpit of America)for over 30 years, and Bystander1 is spot-on. DO NOT go thru that village with a simple taillight out, or headlight out, because you WILL be pulled over. When the SCPD drives past you, watch thier necks and how far they crank them in order to read your inspect and registn stickers. I've driven Semi tractor trailer all over this country and I've neer seen more cops concentrated in such a small area. Between the SCPD, Chaut Co Sheriffs and NY State Police your doomed to drive thru there. I dont care if I am going to the Reservation for gas, I Always take the thruway and bypass "the armpit". And 99% of the time when i actually DO have to drive thru there, the SCPD are sitting somewheres taking radar. I can point to each spot they sit. Gaurenteed they will be in one of them this very min as i type this. And AF is a bitter woman who wanted to get re-elected, and wasn't and has time AND an agenda on her hands.

I drive into silver creek five days a week and never do I see them just sitting and waiting nor do I see the necks crank when driving by them. I have even gone thru their road checks and have had an expired inspection and they have just warned me to have it done - maybe they have a very good reason to be watching you mr jynx since you grew up in silver creek they would know if you have a history - I'm just saying!

You can still have a full time Police Dept., let the Sheriff take over with a contract for a guaranteed car in the Village, now you get a much larger Police force, with much more experience and resources, cheaper also. Even though Deputies make more than what a scpd officer makes, the County is self insured, which saves a lot, and you only pay for the patrolman, not for a chief, Sgt, office personnel etc.

Silver Creek , Is already taxed to death. They can no longer afford a police department. When I take a chance and drive into the village I cannot believe how it has deteriorated.

yeah right Espersen, YOU drove thru SC with an expired inspect sticker. yeah ok, save it, your a liar, plain and simple. go back to your union job, keep your yap shut unless you KNOW what your talking about. Becuz i do, I've seen it going on since i was a little boy, when Tony Saletta and Marty Pecararo were the Chiefs. Its been going on for decades in that village. And in the 60's and 70's if your name didnt end in a vowell you were cooked. At least that much HAS changed, cuz the nail EVERYONE now, they arnt picky anymore--ESPECIALLY if you have an expired inspect. You made your self look like an idiot with that response.
