Progress on what?? The only progress has been a continued assault on the working class who pay the freight for all the entitlements. Four more years of this and there will be nobody left paying the taxes, just those who want it all for free !!

Unemployment is DOWN. Job Growth is UP. Stock Market is highest it has been in over four years. Housing is UP. DEFICIT IS DOWN.

I call all of that PROGRESS. Major progress.

"The American people don’t expect government to solve every problem. They don’t expect those of us in this chamber to agree on every issue. But they do expect us to put the nation’s interests before party. "

AMEN MR. PRESIDENT Yes, we the people demand that Congress stop all this fighting and start to put the work of our country before any politics. Get to Work Congress...

The most important part of his speech:

"But for the sake of our children and our future, we must do more to combat climate change. Yes, it’s true that no single event makes a trend. But the fact is, the 12 hottest years on record have all come in the last 15. Heat waves, droughts, wildfires, and floods – all are now more frequent and intense. We can choose to believe that Superstorm Sandy, and the most severe drought in decades, and the worst wildfires some states have ever seen were all just a freak coincidence. Or we can choose to believe in the overwhelming judgment of science – and act before it’s too late. "

We MUST ACT before it is too late! No planet, what else matters? Thank You Mr. President for understanding this is THE ISSUE of our time.

Judeye gets it wrong again. Even the UN said the earth is not warming as much as feared and that the sun is the culprit for the rest. judeye does not understand analytical chemistry or even life as water is the great heat absorber on the planet and is present in huge quantities vs CO2. No analytical chemist or chemical engineer believes CO2 absorbs heat like water does. The libs are smarter than all the chemists and engineers ! Hey judeye, your kind has been on the wrong side of the fence for 150 yrs. Lady Davy hindered Michael faraday's work on pain killers and the wife of a famous dentist fought the chemists making anasthesia we take for granted. CO2 warming is the best scam ever invented by the democrats.Obama can do better, he can get unemployment to 15% like FDR. Bash industry and rich people. You can do it libs ! Special to judeye, let the chemists do the work, dont fight them. Your on the wrong side of history. You dont understand it for sure . Long live fracking too !

Clear progess? You bet!

Unlike the other guy with the other party, in a jump suit, on an aircraft carrier with huge banners crying out "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!" when he couldn't even find Osama Bin Laden and the "mission" still went on, in earnest, beyond the end of his next term...

The good news is that we are getting out of Afghanistan - I agree with that. The bad news is a hike in the minimum wage. It would be inflationary and result in more unemployment. Government should not be dictating wages in the private sector. As for expanding pre-K I see that as taxpayer funded babysitting. Obama wants to use the savings from cutting the military and use it for building bridges and other social programs. Sure, it won't add a dime to the deficit but it won't reduce the deficit either. We have become a country of extremeists but I don't see any common sense from the left or the right. Will Rogers had it right when he said "don't worry about the future of America - we have the best politicians money can buy".

"But as a sign that divisions still remain, three of the most conservative Supreme Court justices skipped Obama's speech. Six of the nine attended. Missing were Justices Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alito."

I thought the US Supreme Court was supposed to be apolitical. Guess not...

Global warming, ha! I am pretty sure the community has stated "natural variability dominates tropical storm activity in the Atlantic to the point that any global warming influence, if it exists, is still undetectable."

The economy isn't fixed. Inflation has hit my wallet at a record pace. The stock market is up, but companies are not hiring... they are socking away the money for the taxes. They are cutting back on jobs in preparation of HealthCare laws. Housing is still struggling, with homes in my area being sold for 50% of their value 5 years ago, and 42% off their value 12 years ago when I purchased.

Obama has fought battles against the American instead of embracing the ideology. He has transformed our nation and will continue to do so with immigration reform, and gun control. He will not tackle a fair tax, unemployment, Iran, North Korea or Africa. He cares more about gay marriage, then the true state of the nation and the state of the world.

When I heard these words, I about laughed myself out of my chair. We are the most dependent on government we have ever been and if the 47% don't have enough free stuff now the president will find more to give them.

Phil, we may be getting out of Afghanistan but our special forces are all over the place, not to mention USA drone strikes. Also, there are lots of jobs out there, but if your lazy, have little or no skills forget it. Life is what you make it.

Steiner...usually I do not respond to you.

but on climate change....ARE YOU SERIOUS???? Have you not read the UN report? If I thought you would actually take the time to read them, I would post articles and detailed studies from real climate scientists from around the world.

Climate change is REAL. It is not some liberal conspiracy. We cannot just put our heads in the sand and pretend everything is ok when we all know that it is not. Time to act is NOW.

Have you ever stood in an empty barn in zero degree weather? Now fill that barn with cows or any other bodies. Ever notice how the barn warms up? Anyone who can't admit that putting billions of people on earth and giving them cars and everything else we have won't warm the planet is not using common sense. You put 100 million cars and trucks on this planet and you will have warming.

Take that barn and fill it with an equal number hamsters. That's more fitting to your example, which is not entirely an appropriate example, as barns dont' usually have oceans, volcanoes, etc., not to mention their own weather systems to factor in.
