Nancy, there you go again spreading lies and untruths. If you truly care about what happens in the Village, step up and do something about it. You just had an opportunity to run for election and chose not to. Heckling in the back of the room at a Board meeting does nothing. I sincerely hope no one believes your posts since 99% of what you said is not true.

Phil and Mr. Baseball: You both sound like babbling idiots. Stick to the topic here, nobody cares about who knows who and who called who to get numbers. Those numbers make no difference to teh Village Board in Silver Creek about the future of the police Dept.

baseball - "calling around" is not going to give you the complete picture. The report I refer to is highly detailed and too extensive to copy here. It's OK - you don't have to believe me but I have a copy of the report.

Phil, I called around and asked how many officers there were, my numbers are right, don't you think that your buddy could be wrong? Don't you check your onfo to see if it is right, it's an easy thing to do!

BASEBALL - are you capable of discussing a subject without being insulting? I really don't care if you believe my numbers but they came from a credible source and I know they are right.

As for Aunt Ann... well she gets a warm feeling that the local patrol car can be at her door within a few mins to take her bs complaint of local kids playing or a barking dog. In a TRUE EMERGENCY the sheriffs dispatcher will sent the closest police unit either a deputy or a trooper or both will respond with or without a contact! and both dept has additional resources to bring to the village if needed. So its really up to the village residents. I live in Arkwright we have NO POLICE CONTRACT, but when i have called either the TROOPER'S the SHERIFF's responded to my complaint.

Again no information... to those who can make comments but not come to meetings. The candidates for each party were not chosen until the end of January. That said the only Board meeeting since then was on Feb, 4th and both Democratic candidates were in attendance! Can't go to a meeting that doesn't exist. Further, for you who know all the answers, there are elction laws that state time frames for signage of candidates, info in the paper and when they can walk the village to meet the citizens. Come to meetings if you want answers!!!! If you can't bother then don't complain.

For all of you who think you know all the answers why are you never at the board meetings? the room is never filled with the local residents just the newspapers and town officials who need to be there and 3 or 4 citizens. If you had been there, you would know from the officers letters that it was the sargent that was the problem and not the chief. Their letters stated so AND if you read the Observer after the last board meeting you would know that the 3 officers who left this summer were hired back as part time officers AFTER the sargent was gone! you are entitled to complain but have the guts to come to the meetings and do it in person if you live in the village. If you don't live in the village, it doesn't affect you and you have know say when you don't have the facts or atleast to have it count for more than gossip. You know so much and don't bother to look at facts, then show up at the meetings instead of spouting things that are not true.

PhilJilian.....the study numbers must include all the full & part time staff of the sheriffs dept to get those numbers ,Pilots, 911 Dispatchers, Corrections, Cooks and Office Staff, Its really up to the Taxpayers of the Village. They can have a contract or go with out... Going with no contract is the cheapest way. Silver Creek residents can just call 911 if its a EMEMERGENCY either the Sheriff or NYSP unit will come to your aid. Village residents already pay for the sherff and state police thur taxes. Why pay for a PD when you have a County Sheriff dept & the State Police. just for a security blaket..Lock your cars and houses if you need the, call them they will come. with or without a contact!! Thats what Hanover should have done, flush the PD and state " WE ARE NOT PAYING" !!!

Well Phil, your friend is wrong in his figures, just like you are all the time, I looked at every Dept and added up the number of officers that they have, its not hard to get the figures, a few phone calls was all it took, the numbers that you have are way off! What don't you check your sources????? Get off your stilts Phil and step into the real world!

REASONABLECITIZEN - you are basing your opinion on the salary of one individual. The reason Jamestown is having difficulty merging law enforcement with the county is that salaries in the Jamestown Department are much higher than the Sheriff's Department. BASEBALL - I am a friend of the department head at the college who conducted the analysis that reflected 300 law enforcement. He is competant, highly intelligent and I have no reason to question his figures. I have a copy of his report. You do not have all the facts.

Phil, Sgt. Romanik left and went to the Sheriff as a Deputy and got a pay raise, yes a pay raise !! So do the math how does the Sheriff do it for less ?? Who is paying the difference for the kingdom to expand into Silver Creek Phil ?? Easy - YOU ARE.

eagleswings must be connected to the cop shop!!! Add up the benefit package, fuel cost, cost of cars, maintenance, liability insurance, uniform and equipment purchases, secretary costs, overtime costs, part time officer associated costs, plus regular salaries, and you will have way more than what it would cost for a sheriff car 24/7

Said trustee is not doing his job but being vindicative simply because someone else who is an employee want to go away, He has a horrible temper and wants his way, Notice nothing has been said about the water and sewer dept or DPW Water and Sewer has 3 employees and 3 pick up0 trucks. Don't you think that that is over kill. You also seem to have forgotten that PD goes 24/7 and DPW and WAter and Sewer work onlly 7 hrs a day. No need for those supervisors to have their own F350 that no one else is allowed to drive. If you are going to argue that it must include all !! I also seem to think that most people have skipped over the numbers presented in the comments. Cost of the dedicated sheriff's car for this year is about 350,000 with all charges they have and they don't even get 24/7 coverage with that for 7 months of the year. If the village had to pay the same, we would not save a dime and because of the lack of a 3rd shift for 7 months a year. These are facts that have been verified.

eagleswings You are wrong, if the Village contracts with the sheriff, it will be for their own car in addition to what the Town has---a car dedicated to the Village. Get it straight! If the Village pays nothing at all and does not enter into a contract with the County, then there will only be the Town car! Before you offer an opinion, get the facts straight first!

If you read the article correctly that was all calls.. funeral escorts bank escorts all the calls to Sunset in the summer for back up and other calls to back up the sheriff. Further, said trustee tried to make it look like the benefits package was the PD"s doing. Wrong it applies to all employees. The mayor and deputy mayor are the negotiators and they refuse to ask for conessions. This plan rivals that of Congressmen. Employees pay $0, $2 or$5 per month ( not percent ) for their health insurance. On top of that, they get a $6,000 a year HSA,. At the end of the 2 yr contract, if they haven't used for their copays, they get a check for the balnce... nice trick if you get away with it. The worst is that they all make enough money to pay 20% of the premiums and have a Flex plan not the free HSA! I say that if they don't like the idea , they can look for another job. And you wonder why the taxes are so high. The saddest part is that the fault again drops it the boards's lap.
