I understand the arguement about taking an older persons license it takes their freedom away. But on the other side of the coin NYS cracks down on all other drivers for drugs, drinking, texting and any other reason to pull you over which is right to protect the public. After you get to a certain age a drivers evaluation should be done on a yearly basis to protect the public. Or when an accident like this happens the license should be taken until a mandatory drivers evaluation be performed. Nys creates so many laws and fines now for drivers to overlook this problem is negelence by the state in my opinon.

There has been a lot of these accidents . Many involve elderly drivers. Any attempt to make mandatory testing for elder has failed due to lobbying. No attempt to paint the elder drive as nuts like the gun owners. So our govt attacks the gun owners as easier targets.
