Highs and lows: Some of the best, worst of the week

I was wondering, who paid for the traffic signs? Did Fredonia or Dunkirk receive $650,000 in grant money? What good will the signs do without official training for kids to learn how to cross the street? Certainly the Observer doesn't see that as a parents job, do they!!? I also think all traffic safety efforts need to include some simple laws of physics for pedestrians to understand how much time it takes to stop a moving vehicle when they step out in front of them. The term "stops on a dime" is FIGURATIVE, NOT literal!!

Too bad that the money had to be spent on the new signs by school 4 but evidently people can't read signs unless they have some flashing lights. On any school day people just ignore the 15 MPH limit. Pedestrians have a responsibility as well just As Dave Prince said in the article. Kids are a different story Mr Christopher,no amount of training at that age is going to stick. Heck we can't even get adults to not text and talk on handheld devices while driving.
