Openmind you are correct in your facts about the studies, but my point is where have they been the last few years to move this along. I don't recall them being at Chadwick Bay meetings to work with the communities. Years ago a similar study was done for a sewer district. Nothing happened. I would think that the County would have more power then the City or the communities in taking the lead on this venture.

Yes - you are wrong. The county has been involved from the very beginning. Way back to Mark Thomas as county executive this effort has had the support of the county. Under Greg Edwards administration the county paid for an in depth study of all the water systems in northern chautauqua county that led to the feasibility study done by the Chadwick Bay communities. The county also contributed funding toward the local match for the ARC grant for the implementation plan, making it possible to match the ARC grant funding for a financial consultant. County Executive Edwards has led the efforts to gain support for the regional water system in the community and with local industrial leaders. The county has been and continues to be an important partner in this effort.

What part has the County played in the possible development of the North County Water District? None that I'm aware of. If I'm wrong some one please correct me.

So how exactly is creating a smoke free environment at all County operations going to move the county forward?

I'm not saying there is no value in it, simply that including it when talking about programs and/or ideas to advance the County is at best reaching for anything possibly to pad a speech.
