March 17, 2013

By CATHY SNYDER Once again the “one-star rating” has become an issue when other attempts at forcing the sale of the Chautauqua County Home have failed....

Nice try to put lipstick on a pig. I tried it in grade school and it did not work i.e. "My dog ate my homework" I could have passed the test if I had studied..my mom made me go to church" "It was a pop quiz"

No one knows when the regulators come..But the Home is always the first to get hit..Word travels fast, giving the rest of the areas facilities plenty of time to cover up and pretend they are doing a great job..The rating system is flawed, and it works both ways..

commentor, for somebody who has stated that you can afford private pay care at $9,000 a month I find it funny that you have a problem with paying for care at the home for $2.00 a month. hmmm go figure

oh Steiner you silly little man you, at it again with your comments against women just to make yourself feel bigger than you actually are. I say that because anybody who degrades people the way that you do, do so because they have the need to feel superior to others. Unfortunately for you I get the feeling that it's just left you lonely, unable to have a relationship with a woman. kinda sad really

commentor says: "I have no problem with the care at the CCH. I have a problem with the cost."

Believe it or not, many who oppose selling feel this way, too, which is why Edwards, Hellwig (who should be fired immediately) & the CCLeg must explain why they've wasted millions of $$$ (over the past several years) by approving the expenditure of OVER $400,000 on a gas well, only to quickly abort the project the very next year, AND refusing to implement significant cost-saving measures that were recommended in the Nazarro Report in 2008, the Harmony Report in 2011 and the CGR report last Aug.

It's been reported that many of the concerns that caused CMS to issue a 1-star rating have also existed since '08, and have been documented in 3 other independent reports. The obvious question is: WHY has Edwards, Hellwig and the CCLeg not corrected them?

The "problem areas" may not be actual industry violations, but they've had 5 years to improve the same issues, but for unexplained reasons, those responsible have failed to do so.

The ratings are not just a "snapshot" of a few days. Calling in additional staffing during the inspection process has zero to do with the staffing rating. Stop with the hoodwinking already. I have no doubt that the staff are all wonderful caring folks however those attributes have zero to do with the staffing ratings.

If you haven't been to Absolute take a stroll through and let us know if you would rate it a 5. I rate it a ZERO!! The urine smell when you open the door will kill you. I have no problem with the care at the CCH. I have a problem with the cost.

Waitaminute. All through the sale vote process, people were slamming Absolute et al., when the CCH couldn't even muster any better? And now that the Home is right in the same bucket, "the star rating is flawed?". Pitiful that the almighty CCH, with advanced notice, could only finish in the basement. Hypocrites. According to the star rating, we're not getting our money's worth at CCH.

The point is that Avi was chastised for his low star ratings, which don't seem to be accurate, but now the County Home is being glorified on a low star rating. The bottom line is they don't want to sell the Home. They are trying to justify their reason for no sale and it blew up in their face. They glorified the County Home and it got a one star rating. They knocked Avi's Homes to the ground and they all got higher star ratings than the County Home. Do they look stupid.....yes they do.
