Westfield FD looked into LOSAP's as a retention and recruitment tool for our volunteers, never made it passed the mayors office. Cuts,Cuts,Cuts don't bother bringing anything to the table that is going to cost the Village and Town of Westfield, especially if it's going to benefit the FD or the future of the "VOLUNTEERS"

Our department looked into this years ago when it first came out the cost would have doubled our budget so it was dropped likely a mistake seeing as how we keep shoveling money into the pockets of public employees without second thoughts!

Commentor, did you fully read the article? This is a program for VOLUNTEERS, not paid personnel. I am a volunteer, and the last time I checked, there were no "salaries" involved. Thus, I am at a loss to even fathom the basis for your comment. When you consider that the majority of emergency services in this county (39 out of 42 departments) is provided for by volunteers, perhaps then you would be able to advocate for something of benefit to those folks, rather than commenting just for the sake of agitating.

Based on salaries posted today they should be embarrassed to even suggest such a thing.
