Drones becoming weapons of choice

March 28, 2013

Drones are male honeybees. They develop from eggs that have not been fertilized, and unlike worker bees whose stinger is a modified egg-laying organ they cannot sting....

A device by Harris Corp called the StingRay has been in use for several years by law enforcement. It spoofs a cell phone tower, radiating a signal which captures the serial number and phone number of every device within range. (It works through the walls of buildings.)

The cell-site simulator also collects the info of anybody and everybody within range of the device. And it’s just not just active calls it captures, rather every phone that’s simply switched on, i.e., not just the guy/gal they’re looking for.

Every VoIP/mobile product my company offers is subject to the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). passed by Congress in 1994, whereby we must create and code our networks and devices as to be “tappable” by law enforcement.

Interesting that the government that wants to limit possession of weapons by the average American, that same government is constantly spending our tax dollars to develop new weapons that could someday be used asgainst us.

Exactly why I need my semi-auto"assault rifle" with 7(ahem)round magazine. Takes a bit of practice to lead the pesky things but it can be done.

I don't have a problem with drone use overseas, but use in the US against US citizens is another story.

Ironically Proud and his leftist buddies were screaming bloddy murder when Bush did it, but support it now that their messiah not only increased usage of them but now is moving to using them on US soil. Of course ProudToBeATroll wont mention that.

Why am I reminded of the opening credits of Fantasy Island and Tatto going, "Boss, boss - de plane, de plane!"

I had no objection when Bush introduced the use of drones, nor did anyone else in America. However, their continued use under Obama is blatantly illegal and unconstitutional and must be stopped immediately. How is it that Obama hasn't been impeached or brought up on charges of crimes against humanity?

The FAA - so far - has approved police use in Ohio, Colorado, Oregon, Washington and Idaho. Pending are police/sheriff departments in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida and Utah.

Several states/communities have passed bills prohibiting drone use. But guess what? The airspace is regulated by the FAA, and that overrides any state/local restrictions.

One sheriff north of Houston was quoted as saying he wants to equip his with tear gas, Tasers and rubber bullets.

See where this is all going...?

The issue I see with drone us in the US is that every agency is going to want their own force of drones and will go to great lengths to justify them.

Look no further then the proliferation of groups with police powers within the federal government to see where things will head.

We now have massive police raids involved law enforcement officers from up to a dozen different agencies for issues that would have been handled administratively a few years ago.

The FAA banned commercial use of drones in 2007, and is now under Congressional mandate to complete a plan by SEP 30, 2015 for integrating drones into the US airspace.

The FAA estimates there will be 10,000 drones in the US in private hands within 5 years, and is seeking 6 US test sites where drones can operate beside regular aircraft as part of its testing/rulemaking.

The FAA also plans to publish a “local rule” in the next few months for drones <55 pounds over unpopulated areas and which remain within sight of the operator. It has already granted approx. 300 waivers to certain federal agencies, researchers and selected police departments for much broader use.)

Next time you say someone drones may literally mean it. :-)

Can you imagine what would happen if Mexico flew drones over the United States and used them to take out drug lords who have been killing their citizens and government officials? Can you also imagine if American Citizens were killed when the Mexicans unleashed the Hellfire missiles on their intended targets?

Hey dc, when is the democratic party gonna come clean and offer choice in school? Millions of lives wrecked because of poor education. Dc, you hae a knack for ignoring the libs. Hey posters, who is the ultimate victor in cain vs abel ? why it is cain, that is who. cain is the one the father and christ are rooting for. The libs are on the losing side with their back to nature stuff. Out of time and sync, that is a liberal. You could say there are only two kinds of people, cain and abel. You would be close to right.

Quoting Genesis, with Cain and Abel, as a moral guideline for the US national defense tactical use of drones?

This is incredibly weak: drone use is a government policy. Therefore, in using Scripture for moral guidance, you knew better than to look no further than Jesus' guidance in Matthew 22:21, "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's".

Speaking of moral guidance from Scripture, just what was said pertaining to the massive shielding of pedophiles by the leaders of the True Faith, of Peter's church, the "rock" of Christ????

Only when your church comes thoroughly clean -- rendering unto Caesar ALL of the pedophiles and those who knowingly obstructed justice by cover-up to face Caesar as Jesus instructed -- only then will your church have the moral high ground to render any type of moral guidance about "policy".

dan, where to begin ? I see libs can quote scripture, but when a repub does it, "you are cramming your beliefs down our throat " is the reply from libs. Cain vs Abel ? Cain would be the scientist inventor type, Abel would be the green heads, living off the land, tending flocks, etc. UN to regulate drones ? Why ? The drones are the CIA of the 50's , but greatly enhanced. Civilian casulaties bad , you are kidding right ? So we can bring the troops home and send in drones and people are still handwringing. This is technology at its best. Abel would disapprove, but Cain would not. Cain would have built them. Long live Cain.
