There you have it, Rogets. If "the school" hired 3 new admins, the BOE must approve it. You know, the same group of people who taxpayers elect b/c candidates promise to improve efficiencies, offer better curriculum, and keep costs down, only to be hit with higher operating expenses year after year after year.

One thing is always clear to me when people recommend cutting sports, and that is you were not an athlete in high school. Another thing that is made clear to me from people who sit behind their computers claiming you are "struggling to put food on the table" that maybe you aren't doing all you can to educate your self on the subject besides reading newspaper articles. What your school board does, is make decisions in the best interest of their students, NOT the parents whom I know pay the taxes. But as parents do you not have children to give them MORE not less than what you had in school? I myself was an athlete in school, and I can assure you Roberta is kept me on the straight and narrow. It made sure I kept my grades up to play. It taught me leadership and the sense of team. Who knows I may have fallen into peer pressure, Drank, smoke and not completed my educations. 96% of students who play sports in high school graduate.... Just a thought....

DiFonzo is worried about being broke within 3 or 4 yrs. That's a plausible prediction. Do you think anyone is listening?...of course not.

Aside from state mandates, rising labor costs and adamant school employees is what's killing public ED. The solution is obvious; if BOEs want to maintain and/or improve curriculum, employee concessions (from top to bottom) are needed. Will this ever happen?...of course not.

roberta2, thank you for your comments. A few years ago i addressed the board about cutting sports or at least you play you pay. I was told at that time they had enough money to fund it for at least the upcoming year, but if there continued to be short falls they would have to look at cutting it out of the budget. That amount was over a half a million dollars, bingo there is your deficit. Lets see if they were serious or just lying.

Let's not forget "impending negotiations". How will that work for the taxpayer? Will the teachers' union realize that paying 10 to 15% for health insurance is RIDICULOUS? I challenge the Fredonia teacher's union to help the financial situation and step up to the plate with their benefit package.

Does it make people feel smarter (or dare I say it) clever when they make up names for people? Yep, commentor (spelled wrong), in this particular case (DiBonzo) I'm looking at you.

This election year brought out the finest in imagination and less-than-humor-filled names, OBozo, R-Money, and the list goes on....

Trying.....I think not!!!! English as a SECOND language. I thought in the USA it was the FIRST language. There are a lot of things that could be cut if they wanted to make the hard decisions. Fredonia Voters....make sure you vote yes on the budget like you do every year and send the message you agree they are doing the best they can. Perhaps if the budged was voted down it would send the message DO BETTER!!! As for merging with Dunkirk that won't solve a thing. The sooner the schools go bankrupt the sooner a real solution will take place. Less enrollment but higher costs. What's wrong with this picture????? As for DiBonzo's list of what he has tried to do it is not genuine. He is not cooperative. He is arrogant. NO one wants to do business with him. He does it just to say he tried. He's the first thing that needs to be cut!!!

declining enrollment, overpaid teachers and admin, solution is very simple.
