What ‘concern’ from columnist?

April 14, 2013

Editor, OBSERVER: The “lack of heart” of the anti-choice activists that columnist Sarah Schwab refers to in her scribblings (April 7) on the abortion debate is directed to the reaction of the......

The obscene horrors from that Dr in Philly are emerging. Most of us are appalled.

One reason why I will work even harder to make abortions LEGAL so these type of horrors are less likely to occur. Do you have ANY idea the horrors that happened when abortions were illegal in this Country? Do you have any idea how many not only the "babies" but the mothers who were butchered during a procedure in some dark alley or on a kitchen table?

Working first to reduce the need for an abortion by helping make contraceptives easier for all to obtain.

I'm no expert, and generally stay out of these discussions, but I have to admit, if those late term abortions with the scissors applied are real, and legal, they should NOT be. That seems just disgusting. I don't have an issue with first trimester. After that, it gets pretty sketchy.

Paul, try looking on line sometime, there's a doctor in Philly on trial for this right now. Of course the main stream media isn't covering the story, that would be against the direct wishes of the democrats.

I have seen the story and I'd argue with your "mainstream media" comment, it's been in every newspaper I read of late, and I have seen a few stories on TV. It sounds like an extreme, not the norm at all, and a clear criminal act from everything I've heard/seen. That being said, the legal version is more than a little close for comfort for me. And I repeat, normally this is NOT an issue I'm comfortable placing myself in the middle of. I'm a man, I'll never have to make that decision. I also balance this with the idiots who were claiming a pregnancy froma rape was a "gift from God", or the even more ridiculous statement that a woman can't get pregnant from a rape, and then the infamous "actual rape" remark. There's enough BS from both sides of this issue to take all information with a few grains of salt. (NOT the Philly deal, that seems pretty clear cut)

Those who blindly push for the "women's right" to dispatch her unwanted offspring are ignorant, not compassionate people. This isn't a religious issue to me, it is a basic principle of human rights. Living babies at 20 weeks or 64 weeks are both deserving of life. It is not up to the casual whims of an irresponsible women who is willing to "kill her own" rather than deal with the consequence of her actions. By the their self-serving logic, we should go to the County Home and advocate all those "unwanted" be humanely dispatched to relieve society of the burden. Sure worked in Germany. Both are crimes.

Commonsense, you don't get the complexities of the issue. Inform yourself before you speak again. Sometimes this really is a medical decision.

Abortions like this should be crimes. There is no excuse for abortion any more, in my eyes. There are a multitude of ways to prevent pregnancy - if rape is involved, that presents a whole new issue; however, someone certainly wouldn't wait until they were 5-6 months along to have one - and if they do, then they might as well continue on to birth and put the child up for adoption. The world we are now being subject to sickens me.
