bye bye, the next guy or women should try and make it tougher for a person to get welfare. why can't their be a resident requirement, like live here for a year before you can get it. and school taxes are getting to a level that makes me think about moving out of state, the structure of the school system is this county is insane.

Just another lying politician and there will be another one right behind him. Bring in a control board. That might help. Not sure there is any help for the County, the state or the country for that matter.

The 47% has taken over. A a minority those working for a living will be expected to shell out more and more. Not really the county's fault just liberals in NYS forcing young people and jobs to move. Biggest attraction is welfare how many workers got a 10% increase like welfare.

I happen t like Mr. Edwards as a person. Eight years ago he told me he would work to consolidate and eliminate duplications in local government. Obviously he has failed but I am not sure anyone else could have done things any different. Special interests and unions rule in our county. They are a strong force at the negotiating table and an equally strong force in the voting booth. I expect jobs to contuinue leaving and the population continue to drop until the suffering gets so bad that the voters and taxpayers stage a serious revolt against local government.

I don't think anyone can help Chaut. Co. at this point. It is too far gone. Nothing to attract business or young people. Just watch the people going into Tops or Walmart. In 10 - 20 years 80% of them will be gone due to their ages and no young families to replace them. It will continue to decline and that is not only the Countys fault but NYS as well.

Look back to when Edwards ran against Mark Thomas and you will see he was running on a platform of lowering property taxes and funding the county home. In two terms he has none neither. But he did get the sales tax raised and helped reduce the number of hard working taxpayers in the county.

Without malice, I'd score Edwards as a poor Co Exec, but in all fairness, the entire CCLeg isn't any better. I firmly believe Edwards' obsession to sell the CCH caused him to make decisions that intentionally led to greater losses at CCH, hoping to gain support to sell. I don't believe Edwards acted alone, nor had the exclusive authority to approve wasting OVER $400,000 of taxpayer's money on the gas well w/o majority support from the CCLeg. I simply don't believe there's no proof/record of any formal action on this matter. Hopefully the truth comes out and more Legs are ousted, as well as CCH admin Hellwig.

If you believe he is not looking for bigger and better raise your hand. How many times has he tried to leave in the middle of his commitment to Chauqauqua? He can't leave fast enough for me, I just worry how much MORE damage he will do on his way out. I am sure he has favors he needs to repay before he leaves.
