Yes, the taxes will sky rocket because the city and county will never make the cuts needed. They will continue to rip us off until there is nothing left for them to legally steal..

Id like to know the basis for commentor's remark that they're closing. I highly doubt it came from anybody with any clout at NRG. They seem to be very optimistic.

National Grid i suspect is playing the game with the state, since New York does not want ANY generation in this state. At times companies have to go along to get along, ah maybe a rate increase is the pay back.

There's another question here, and that is, since National Grid doesn't make any power, where is all that electricity going to come from when they expand their transmission lines? I'm guessing that Canada deal is still in play? We're going to buy from Canada instead of producing here!!!? Even if it costs a bit more per kilowatt, you have to figure in the taxes paid by the plant and the employees and the overall effect on the economy. With all that, it's a no brainer that buying from Canada is flat out stupid.

Maybe NRG should consider a substantial donation to the Cuomo for president campaign. The question that needs to be answered is if NRG converts to natural gas will the company be price and cost competitive? That should be the criteria but who knows what will motivate the loonies in Albany.
