Nice drivel from the left. Obamacare will wreck the middle class and the American economy all in one fell swoop. Keep thinking this POS president is lookiing out for the average working middle class citizens. He's looking to take the U.S. into third world status, and he apparently has the ringing endorsement of you and many others of your mental might. How proud the public education and media system that indoctrinated you must be...

I guess the point of the opinion was not to vote for what you believe in and completely cave in to the opposition right? We have enough people who voted "present" especially one particular former Senator from the Chicago area. Now I'm curious about the role of a Community Health Consultant relative to Obamacare? Anyone want to take a stab at that?

Fat Uncle Fester Reed rode into office when a bunch of victimized, Fox-news-fed, angry rural white folks -- *********s -- amazingly all got together one day in November, turned out in greater numbers and voted him.

As a congressman, he has done Z-E-R-O for his district -- he has provided no benefit of any real substance for his constituents. All he had to do is vote along ignorant Tea Party lines, ie, repeal Obamacare, and he thought he'd get reelected effortlessly.

Then comes along Nate Shinagawa -- this nobody Japanese American for Tompkins and almost won. Nate gave Uncle Fester the scare of his life -- it showed him that his district wasn't as Tea Party as he believed.

So, now, Uncle Fester tries to play both sides with all this hollow showboating.

But the solid, irrevocable truth is that Fat Uncle Fester is a crummy Congressman for this district that has real serious economic issues.

Great letter Natalie!!!

Interesting in today's paper there also was a story on Rep Reed going to COI. COI is this county's leading anti poverty agency, providing many services and programs to help empower people to get out of poverty..or help to prevent them from falling into it in the first place.

Leading causes of bankruptcy..."Medical Expenses (42%) Recent studies have shown that 42% of all personal bankruptcies are a result of medical expenses. The study also reveals that 78% of those who filed had insurance.

Job Loss (22%) Millions of Americans are unemployed, which makes them much more likely to file for bankruptcy. Unemployed individuals often pay for insurance out-of-pocket."

Rather than voting to repeal Obamacare...where are his votes for SINGLE PAYER insurance for all..and JOBS BILL?

Is it easier to just keep voting on something that makes NO sense at all..Rather than proposing and voting on SOLUTIONS that would truly help the people of his district?

The point was to make it clear that half the Congress is wasting time making a political issue instead of actually doing any work. And that's true.

The point is how slanted Natty and DC RON XS are.Wait until we have obamacare and are waiting as long as the U.K. and Canada do for a specialist, procedure,MRI.Check how long it takes. Why do so many Canadians come here?Because they don't want to die before their turn comes around.

If the elected representative4s in Washington were doing their jobs, working TOGETHER, so called "Obamacare" would not only not exist, but we would have a better plan for National Health Insurance like everyone else in the developed world has except for the United states. It would also be cheaper and fully funded. "Obamacare" is a bad plan because it was met by nothing but opposition by people who should have done better. There's no way anyone in this country should be without health insurance, period.

Canadians come here for things like alcohol treatment. Not life threatening matters. The idea that life threatening conditions are treated quickly in America is a complete myth. Just look at people you know. Cancer, lung conditions, heart conditions--I've seen waits right here that were costly for the family members and friends I speak of. "Obamacare" is the 1993-94 Republican answer to Hillary Clinton, but strangely, now none of you Fox Heads like it. Are you a bunch of hypocrites, or just forgetful? The exchanges are happening in California now, and first reports are very positive. But the far right will NEVER acknowledge what's good about it any more than Tom Reed will vote for us rather than in support of the Tea/Republican party. For every "Canadians flock here" anecdote, there are an equal number of anecdotes about Canadians and Europeans who express gratitude that they're not American.

Congressional to-do list (both parties) when returning home:

(1) Campaign for reelection (2) Memorize talking points and pander to constituents (3) Blame congressional gridlock on the other party (4) Collect campaign donations/commitments (5) Campaign for reelection

Jun-12-13 6:34 PM obviously do not understand or know very much about affordable care all.

First, it is NOTHING like the system in Canada. That would be single payer, where everyone is insured, like medicare for all. Some of us are fighting for single payer as a way to reduce costs and to provide health care for ALL of our citizens.

Secondly, I do not know how many Canadians you are in contact with. The people I know who are Canadian rave about how good their health care system is in their country. They might have to wait to get a test. hmm...kinda like we have to do here in the USA.

Take time to read a summary of the ACA. I think you will be surprised at how different it is from those who are paid to bash it.

Jun-12-13 6:37 PM are aware the USA is the ONLY industrialized western country that does NOT have single insurance for all.

Some third world. That would be when we have a huge gap between the super rich and the poor..with the middle class eliminated. hmm kinda like what is going on in our country right now huh?

When I talk to Canadians they say they would never leave the Canadian health care system and replace it with the American system. Health care is a big and profitable business in America and politicians are controlled by the industry. Rent the movie "Sicko" if you want to learn the truth.

Phil - you and I obviously know different Canadians. Virtually every Canadian I have met tells me how horrible their healthcare system is. Especially if you're not healthy. You see they have a severe doctor shortage in Canada. Especially GPs. Docs get to pick and choose their patients and since govt reimbursements are the same whether you're sick or not, docs only choose healthy people. The sickest people are left with the worst doctors who need patients to fill their practice. Obamacare will be far worse since our population is more than 10 times that of Canada.

Jun-13-13 7:18 AM are some places where you can get a summary of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)

Healthcare dot gov

Kff dot org...the Kaiser Family Foundation

Let me know if you would like more. They are fact sheets and actual calculators to help figure out just how much you can save under this act in insurance costs.

You might also look into California implementation of the Act, with exchanges...and how much it is SAVING in costs to consumers.

Take time to look at what is really in this Act and how it can benefit you and your family. I wished this paper would do a series of articles on it. hint hint..

I have not met one person from Canada who would want to change health insurance systems with the USA.

Data backs this up as well... "A 2011 Gallup Poll found that 57 percent of Canadians felt “satisfied” or “very satisfied” with their access to health care services (in the United States, that number stood at just 25 percent)." Wonkblog...Wash Post...July 1 2012

Judeye-AARP,big supporter of Obama,Health,"slightly" slanted. The act has yet to be finalized Judeye, lots of problems exsist. Thousands yes thousands of doctors who say they will not accept any insurance plans. Are you saying you have read and understand Obamacare? You must be a genius since my doctor is going bonkers trying to figure it out.

Judeye...huh? Huh? Since you can't post links here, below is the opening sentences from a Feb 25 CBC article...."An estimated four million Canadians still don't have a family doctor — a shortage that continues to plague small towns in Alberta." 4 million people is nearly 20% of the population of Canada. A much higher percentage than the questionable number the Obama administration claims are uninsured in the US.

Those Canadians are PAYING for non-emergency care at ambulatory centers is US border cities like Buffalo.

So even with incredibly high taxes and a small population, 1 in 5 Canadians don't have access to basic healthcare.

The learned libs are at it again. I knew canadians that came to the US to obtain certain medical care. the wait in Canada was too long. Many months. So the libs in their classic democrat see democrat do thing just imitate what other countries are doing. This is called original thinking to a lib. reports now speak of large increases in premiums for health coverage under obamacare. natalie shows again that the only thing a liberal wants in addition to a single payer system is a single party system, the dumbocrats. natalie, why should intelligent people , like myself bow to the wishes and desires of mentally ill people, the democrats? Just read cronigs, judeyes , and christophers posts.

hey cronig, along came nate and he lost. I read where almost every anti fracker lost, like nate, saving the planet garbage and you still post uncle fester stuff. The democrats are mentally ill pure and simple and want to make all others ill too. I say no way.hey christopher, unbending ? take a look at your beloved teachers union, they fight every school choice initiative across the country. Thats OK eh christopher ?natalie is a classic activist women , just read history, Ida Tarbell, carrie Nation, Maggie sanger, the amount of damage these gals did is still going on. Judeye fits this too, claiming to understand Obamacare when i heard the bill is up to 20,000 pages now. Judeye, you are confused. Activists have a hard time realizing that, just like you !

They say if at first you dont succeed try again. well the libs and especially the gals are at it again. the gals at the EPA want to eliminate carbon from our lives. They are scientific know nothings, unyielding as Christopher would say. But that is OK as they are liberal. The libs goof up same sex, the union of opposites , target tea partiers , make a jobless recovery, control the public schools , no choice there, just birth control for our sacred cows, women and natalie says compromise. Learned libs that post here just cannot tolerate any disagreement. The right must compromise. I say no compromise to mental illness democrats. Lets hear your learned responses christopoher, judeye and that uncle fester poster cronig.

GEORGEB67 - Just recently I spoke with a couple who own homes in both Canada and the U.S. I asked if they considered becoming U.S. citizens. Their response, no way would we consider giving up our Canadian health care and replacing it with the American system. Sure, Canada has a shortage of doctors. If you were an M.D. would you want to work in Canada when there is a fortune to be made in the U.S.? Many Americans buy their drugs in Canada. Why? Because the cost of drugs is about half the cost in America. I must say this one more time. Rent the movie "Sicko". It explains the situation much better than I ever could. Let me be clear. Obama care is poorly written and will likely harm the country. The only tink I liked about th proposal was the public option but insurance companies that run our country made sure the public option was removed early in the process.
