Truthteller, "other countries are laughing at us because they have such better health care"? I guess that's why their wealthy and leaders come to the US for healthcare when it really gets serious.

"Where are any laws forcing a man to take more responsibility?"

Aren't there deadbeat dad laws all over the place?

" Any laws about wasted sperm?" No if there was then we wouldn't have to worry about the left wing ruining this nation.

American...anyone who would use abortion as a method for birth control should have their heads examined..seriously. Do you have any idea how much more an abortion costs than birth control contraceptives? This is a MYTH. In all my years I have NEVER met any woman who would choose to abort over taking the pill or some other form of birth control.

A fetus has the POTENTIAL to develop into a child. Just like sperm has the POTENTIAL to fertilize an egg. Any laws about wasted sperm?

I just read a whole series of personal stories of women who had abortions after 20 weeks. I wanted to understand why someone would choose to abort so late in the pregnancy. I suggest all of you look it up. Heartbreaking stories..most having to do with the fetus undeveloped or developed incorrectly like having all the organs on the outside, etc

The moral police need to stay out of the medical decision between a woman and her doctor. It is none of our business....least of all the government.

American...the supreme court has ruled wrongly several times in the history of our country.(in my opinion)

Ever hear of Dred Scott?

When you think that they have erred..you work to change it.

But until it is changed it is the law of the land.

Yes, I do think the court erred in Citizens United..and in the Voting Rights Act. I will work to change those rulings.

I do not think they erred in the majority of other rulings including Roe v Wade.

"it isn't abortion (agree with Judeye--it's a MEDICAL issue)" Yes it is a medical procedure that is aborting the fetus of what would otherwise become a child. DUH

Most of you conservatives are so black and white. America is limited by your limited thinking, and that is what really keeps this country from being as great as you yap about. It isn't taxes (you got that idea from 8 destructive years of Reagan), it isn't abortion (agree with Judeye--it's a MEDICAL issue), it's not "Obamacare" (other countries are laughing at us because they have such better health care. As long as conservative extreme thinking blames the wrong people for America's problems, their misguided legislators will continue to vote for destructive policies. Oh, for the good old days of the Eisenhower Republican. I think even Goldwater was better than this crop of weeds.

As far as the Catholic Church and abortion I could give a rats backside what that group of thieves think. That is not my problem with abortion on demand at all. It should not be used as a birth control method but only when the mothers life is at stake.

So it was ok for SCOTUS to rule from the bench in the case of abortion but it was don't ok for them to rule from the bench in Citizens United? Why? Either it is ok for them to or it isn't. Which way do you want it to be. Not a case of you can pick and choose. Many Americans (over 1/2) are against the courts ruling on the non affordablecare act. So if I help you fight to get citizens united overturned will you help get obamacare overturned? Why is it ok to rule from the bench on what you ( or any left wing voter) agree with but not anything else?

I really do not understand why anyone is so against abortion. If your faith tells you not to have one..then don't. But what gives you the right to dictate to me or any other woman what our faith should be?

The Catholic church used to believe that a fetus did not get a soul until it was 40 days old. That meant that before that time it was ok to abort.

This obsession that the right wing has with abortion is crazy. Note that most of them are MEN. I wonder why they are not writing laws requiring any man who impregnates a woman to have to pay half of all of her expenses until the child is born, and then half of all of the expenses until that child becomes an adult.

Hmm....child support set based on the income of the father and not the cost of supporting the child. Why?????

Where are any laws forcing a man to take more responsibility?

Where is the outrage over all the innocent babies, and children that are killed every day during war?

American...no it does not. Which is why I am working to Move to Amend Citizens United..with either a constitutional amendment or legislation. I strongly disagree with that ruling and will work hard to change it. Until it is changed though, the court has ruled it to be constitutional, protected under the first amendment.

In Roe v Wade the court ruled..."The Due Process Clause protects the right to privacy, including a woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy, against state action." Can you think of anything more private than one's own body and one's own medical issues?

This decision to me must remain solely with the woman, her doctor, and anyone else she chooses...and NOT the government.

It's alright for SCOTUS to rule from the bench, as long as it is done in a liberal democrat way. Corporations are people just as much as abortions are not killing innocent babies. judeye, you have to choose. Either neither one is right or they both are. Which is it?

Judeye, when SCOTUS rules on something that isn't even hinted in the constitution, like abortion, then it isn't a constitutional right, it's legislation from the bench. What they did is actually unconstitutional.

Also, Judeye, if you believe "that a woman's right to her own body is a fundamental right protected by the Constitution, through a Supreme Court decision." You should also believe that a woman has the right to sell her body for pleasure. What are your thoughts on that?

When a law is brought before the Supreme Court, and the court rules, it becomes a constitutional right.

Judeye, how can you make the above statement and then condemn the same court for making rulings you don't like? If the court rules corporations are constitutionally individuals, then they are. What's your problem?

Me, my problem is politically motivated lawyers wearing black robes appointed by the political party in power determining what is and isn't constitutional when any person with an 8th grade reading comprehension can understand it.

As Winston Churchill once said Mike,"I contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle". How very true.

The left has entrenched itself in the "rights" of the people, as long as they are rights they agree with. The right? Well face it conservatives, you are about to become extinct. Be responsible adults? Pay your own way? These are laughable concepts to the left. Don't you know there is an endless supply of money and all the government needs to do is open the spigot just a little futher? It's called spending your way to prosperity conservatives. Get a clue to the amazing brain power that is the liberals strongest point, just ask them. Well, that and liberals seem to pick up guns and kill people in groups if you don't give them their way. Oops, I mean compromise to their way of thinking. Darn, I bet that what I just said is racist to the liberal crowd. Line up children, nanny governement is here to tell you what to think and how much of your earnings you are actually allowed to keep.

In many ways we Americans continue to enjoy more freedom, more ability to prosper and more reason to be confident about the future than anyone else on the planet. The Observer should try taking a trip abroad, because he will see there what he thinks is here.

When a law is brought before the Supreme Court, and the court rules, it becomes a constitutional right. Just like integration of schools, Miranda rights, etc. All were decided by the Supreme Court. Ruling by the Supreme Court can only be overturned by constitutional amendment, or the court itself overturning a previous decision.

Yes I think that a woman's right to her own body is a fundamental right protected by the Constitution, through a Supreme Court decision.

I agree Judeye, look how the court ruled that Obamacare and that forcing people to get it is constitutional. Now Obama will postpone a key part of it(if not THE key part) until after the mid terms so people don't get screwed until after the election! Yep "change you can believe in" coming at ya!

"Look no further than our congress who block every bill with some false ideology that they try to attribute to our Constitution." I don't have an opinion on Abortion, or at least stay but of the discussion in most cases, but "Constitutional right"? Where exactly is that language? Answer: There isn't any! It may have been a Supreme Court Decision, but it's certainly NOT a Constitutional Right. The Constitution has been twisted into an unrecognizable mess by many ridiculous court decisions.

Many people in our country today are holding up our Constitution without ever bothering to read or understand its meaning.

Look no further than our congress who block every bill with some false ideology that they try to attribute to our Constitution.

Look at our Supreme Court that held that corporations are protected under our bill of rights, as if they were the same as people. Look at how they just ruled against the Voting Rights Act.

Look at all the state legislations that are passing bills and voting restrictions that will make it harder for some (guess which ones) to exercise their right to vote.

Look at the states that are passing bills making it more and more difficult for women to exercise their CONSTITUTIONAL rights to make medical decisions regarding their own bodies.

We do need a "revolution" of sorts in our country today. The people's voice is being drowned out by the sound of money flowing into our elections and into the pockets of our politicians
