Oh please. The examples use although true are not good. Look at what happened with hurricane Sandy. If NRG states that the plant is no longer viable the decision has already been reached. Would you pump money into an automobile that has outlived its usefulness? No. Would industry think Bethlem Steel pump money into their steel mills just to lose money? NO. So you see that Dunkirk is not being singled out. It is pure economics. Businesses and utility company are in business to make money not lose it. That's the difference between NRG and Government. Look why does the city and county rely one major utility to be viable? This is antiquated thinking. Why does the city continue to give raises when the tax base is down? Ah we have NRG to bail us out. why does the city continue to pay outlandish salaries to the appointed officials? Ah we have NRG to rely on. The curtain is coming down and raising taxes will not solve the problem. The mayor will have to make hard decisions

The reliability argument is a redundancy in a system full of redundant solutions to exceptions and worst case scenarios.

Its like arguing we need another package delivery company when we have USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL and a dozen other carriers because, you know, "...all those big guys' trucks may break down at the same time some day...and then where would be we be...especially at Christmas time???"

Yet another well-thought out blue parking space, superfluous Chicken Little argument from the clueless church lady gaggle OBSERVER board.

Steinerdzzz...the electronic direct deposit of your monthly liberal Social Security check is in itself an example of instituting reliability because postal delivery of paper checks wasn't reliable.

I do realize that, for you, to see what is in front of your nose (and what a nose it must be) is a constant struggle...
