Nw marcia, the very same people who have the low graduation rates, join gangs are guess what party ? Can you figure it out ? The democratic party. Now the democrats fight all choice, except for the abortion regimen for women. This is of course akin to the aspirin regimen for heart disease. So the leading dems deny to others what they themselves do. Sounds fair eh Marcia ? hey have anice day, lafayette and east high are down to the low 20's % for graduation. The actual goal is <10%. they will make it !

Marcia, which schools in WNY have the lowest graduation rates? Let's take the blinders off. Is it racism if it's true?

Commentor believes in the superiority of govt people. becuz govt people built everything and without them . life would stop. The teachers union have a huge vested interest in discouraging homeschooling or vouchers. They diminish the power of the democratic unions thats why.Why even college grads take their parents to interviews and talk on cell phones during them. Such behavior is unacceptable. The kids are clueless because of the educational system.Who runs the educational system , with very rare exception from cradle to college ? Why its the dumbacrats.

Commentor-No you were not critical of teachers but I submit that a Mom who is a seamstress may do just as good a job as a teacher that spends an inordinate amount of time with those who disrupt the classroom. Teachers should be able(trained) to take harsh measures to deal with those who are disruptive without fear of retribution from people like the ACLU!

"The low graduation rate has many causes one of which is minorities that don't want to be in school, don't speak English or would rather sell drugs." Because only minorities skip school, drop out and sell drugs. Try going to any local school and test this the theory.

Joew.....I don't believe I was critical of teachers, however, there are good ones and bad ones. The low graduation rate has many causes one of which is minorities that don't want to be in school, don't speak English or would rather sell drugs. Another problem is poor parenting and the teacher has too many discipline problems to deal with. You can bring a horse to water but you can't make him drink. You can force a kid to school but you can't make him learn.

Well commentor since the graduation rate in NYS is only 77% maybe we have a untrained teacher problem? There is much more to being a teacher than a certificate as I'm sure you are aware.

It's one thing to home school if you are a trained teacher and quite another if you are not. A seamstress is not qualified to stitch up a body wound. An untrained teacher is not qualified to teach school.

Diane kudos to you ! You showed we do not always need a govt employee to succeed. Plus that parents know what is best for their kids. I admire you diane.
