The libs hate home schooling. Any competition with the union shop, our public schools is a no no. good luck to the home schoolers. Anything would be better than the low graduation rates in some of our public schools.

It's one thing to home school if you are a trained teacher and quite another if you are not. A seamstress is not qualified to stitch up a body wound. An untrained teacher is not qualified to teach school.

If liberals are "libs", it follows that conservatives are "cons". Fitting. I am a "lib" and don't hate homeschooling, and in fact know several families that have done an excellent job of it. On the other hand, there are parents who are totally unqualified as "teachers" and who, though well intentioned, are unlikely to "graduate" educated students capable of functioning in society. Mr. Steiner, for example. He may be well educated and may as he puts it "stand on the shoulders of giants",but his stature may be less than gigantic. Would his students be thoughtful and respectful of other opinions, or contemptuous name-callers like him?

Just as home schooling threatens public ED (specifically a lower demand for teachers), I wonder how Sheriff Gerace feels about community watch groups, the Guardian Angels or increases in concealed carry permits.

As president of Local 616, Ahlstrom knew how to protect the ranks of the DFD by convincing Mayor Frey to appoint him as chief, thus effectively destroying the threat by volunteers.

Sadly, most parents aren't qualified to meet the education needs of their children. One has to wonder about their need to control every aspect of their child's life and social interactions and how much of it is tied to indocrination of narrow world views.
