Whoever hears of planning for $50,000 in fines? To make up for short falls. What is it exactly that the finance committee does? Do they review the purchase orders before they are signed or not? Here is a bit of advice. You cannot know what the city spends meeting after the fact. Then it's to late. Looking over the purchase orders before they are signed and asking for explanations of why the item is needed would go a lot farther than after the fact information. and approving $30 per hour for two people to clean out a building is absolutely nuts. Spending is out of control and no one seems to care.

"Two guys were paid $30 per hour" - now that makes alot of sense. Where else could a guy make $30 per hour for manual labor but the City of Dunkirk? Why do we continue to waste mega-bucks on overtime pay? If we can't re-negotiate costly union contracts then maybe it's time to dissolve the city charter and become part of the town or county government. Those "sweetheart contracts" are breaking the backs of the city. The problem in the city is now and always has been the payroll.

we remember not long ago about all the bragging about a 1 million plus surplus from the 2012 budget, now it appears that at the halfway point of 2013 the budget is grossly over. So we ask what is the real truth about the state of fiancé in the city?
