Yes Marcia, we all know the push to have Italian, Polish, and Irish taught in our schools. And no one feels safe walking through those neighborhoods at night, right? How about placing the flag of another country above the U.S. flag? At a place of business or a taxpayer funded school? I haven't heard of anyone but the hyphen "Americans" pulling that stunt. Back to the fact Marcia, you and your politically correct brethren will be the end of America. Welcoming all the welfare cases of the world with open arms. And half of those would just as soon cut your throat as call you friend. But you think everything can be made right with a hug and a hand out. No one appreciates something they didn't EARN Marcia. That is the point, whether it's a roof overhead, food stamps, or citizenship in the greatest country in the world. No work, no appreciation.

Judeye, sometimes compromising isn't in the best interests of the nation.

Here is a perfect example of liberals at work "He bet $3,000 of his $9,600 in winnings and finished well behind a rival who amassed $66,600.

"I was pretty upset that I was cheated out of the final 'Jeopardy!' question," he told The News-Times of Danbury (ht tp://bit.ly/13KTg7D). "It was just a spelling error." "Thomas Hurley III correctly answered the Final Jeopardy question about the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Abraham Lincoln. But Thomas spelled it "emanciptation" and was ruled out by host Alex Trebek." Spelling does count.

" We need ALL voices at the table to be heard and represented." I agree and also agree those in Congress are not helping. But neither are executive orders helping anything but only the one trying to build a legacy. There is no one in DC (maybe 1 or 2 Congressman) that can be trusted to do what America wants.

PhilJ...I agree. We must stand up for what we think is right and just no matter who may be in the wrong.

To me that is why I think it is so important...actually essential...for our system of democracy to have discussions, debates, and then compromise on what is in the best interest of our Country. We need ALL voices at the table to be heard and represented.

Sadly,Some in our Congress these days just do not seem to understand this basic simple concept.

Many of you have read this:

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag... We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language... and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

-Theodore Roosevelt 1907

And it has nothing to do with celebrations but everything to do with feeling you are a true American. I myself am of Irish, Scotch, English and whatever else is thrown in the mix. But I am an American descended from these nationalities. So are you an American or a -American.

I am referring to any American that puts a hyphen in front of the word American. hey are not Irish-American, French-American, African-American or any other da*ned -hyphenated American. Either you are American or your not. It is one of the biggest dividing factors in America today. That and Obama run neck and neck at dividing this nation.

American, I hope you are referring to the Irish Americans celebrating St Patrick's day, the Polish-Americans celebrating Dyngus Day, The Italian -Americans celebrating ST Joseph's day. What a shame they are to our country. And I've even seen the Am-Pol Eagle (a Polish newspaper) for sale in Tops. These people are disgrace and should go back where they came from. And I suppose I have to point out the sarcasm since you can't figure it our for yourself.

I agree with all of that Phil. While we know a true liberal left wing will only agree with the Bush part, maybe Nixon also but will fight you tooth and nail over Clinton, Cuomo or Obama. They are blinded when it comes to any one of those. It seems most are blinded when it comes to Oscar Mayer also.

A true patriot is not one who simply conforms. Should we have looked he other way when Nixon lied about Watergate? Should we have looked the other way when Clinton lied about Monica? Should we have looked the other way when Bush lied to get us into a war with Iraq? A true patriot is one who sees wrong and tries to make it right.

Total agreement MikeDavis. I have said the same thing ever since it started becoming a losers trend to do it. Either you are and American all the way or your not one at all. This is something I firmly believe in. Hyphenated Americans are not being patriotic at all.

I couldn't agree more with the part of the column claiming there are two societies in America. But they are NOT black and white. They are Americans and any self proclaimed "hypen" Americans. Being a hyphen American is like saying you are a little pregnant. You either are or you are not. Every one of the -Americans are attempting to identify themselves as a seperate society, therein lies the problem. And the PC crowd cheers them on as they break the unity of the country. Sad but true...

Dang stangv8 and KWC. Don't think we meant to make them go into hiding. Must be all those "facts" judeye was posting wore her out. And Marcia well she just follows the party lead. No mind of her own in matters like this. Did you read where now they are thinking of putting the hoodlums hoodie on display "Trayvon Martin's Hoodie Eyed for Smithsonian Exhibit". Wonder if it will go with the gangster section where it belongs or the saints section. There is no way this should happen. He did nothing to deserve a spot there.

Like my mother said: "Stay in school". IF T.M. was in Miami and attending school instead of being suspended for the third time maybe things would be different. Also, the juror who said: "He was guilty but there was not enough evidence to convict" seems stupid. You are innocent untill proven guilty. Too bad for all concerned. Like mommy said: " If you go looking for trouble it will find you".

Judeye, if you hold a MS in Criminal Justice, how long have you worked in the field? Did you work in a law enforcement agency, criminal lawyer office, or public defender?

Good observation American, I've noticed that "POOF" thing too, a number of times. I wonder if she noted the sources for the research she presented in the criminal justice thesis? Somehow I don't think "just look up some facts" (31JUL 8:43am) would have gone over well with the supervising professor.

Judeye likes to post facts. Just never shows where her version comes from. Her facts usually are hers alone (well maybe Marcia's also). And when you do post facts and links that show she is wrong it usually means POOF for a bit. Like the stand your ground law I posted. Completely blows her comments out of the water and so far it has been POOF.

Judeye, if you're going to post alleged specific "facts" as part of your argument(s), isn't it proper to also note the source?
