baseball - I agree, Fredonia did the right thing. But there's a lot more to it. Fredonia needs to conduct a complete financial analysis to determine any unanticipated negative impact. And from anyone I've talked with, details about the proposed district are minimal - far too minimal to just jump in blindly.

I am surprised that nobody has jumped on the fact that the long term solution for water is to get it from Erie County Pennsylvania. So the district spends all this money to upgrade Dunkirks plant and asume all of its debt, just to close that one also and connect to Pennsylvania. Fredonia did the right thing!

Slam Fredonia all you want. It didn't work for Silver Creek. Explain that one. They are smart to wait and if it involves shutting down the Fredonia plant they should never sign up.

While we're at it, let's consolidate a bunch of businesses too. Get rid of the Observer, Sentinel, Republican, Quality Guide, Pennysaver, etc. and let the entire county be served by the Post Journal. That should bring down subscription prices and advertising rates. Let's close the WalMart and Home Depot in Dunkirk - Jamestown's should be enough for our declining population. And we can go on and on.

"Economies thrive in regions where layers of government are not suffocating its taxpayers like those here in Chautauqua County."

OK, so let's abolish cities, villages, towns, school districts, fire districts, and a ton of special districts and let the State run it all. Sound like a good idea to you?
