The following is a quote for the NYISO regarding operations during the July heat wave. The NYISO is a not for profit independent 3rd party responsible for maintaining the NY state electric grid integrity.

The Dunkirk generating unit mothballing of 445 MW has significantly changed power flows on the Western NY 230 kV system. This has resulted in significant transmission constraints and congestion ? These Western NY 230kV system constraints have reduced operational flexibility of the Niagara Power Project and the NYISO’s ability to rely on neighboring control area (IESO) to provide assistance during high load conditions

The mfg people need to hear from cronig. Like his famous school tax statement, someone else keeps our taxes low, someone else has a generator to keep you supplied with power ! All you need is an extension cord ! close to the customer stuff. yep, all these people are confused and cronig has the answers. remember fracking caused the natural gas boom and NY is running out of fresh water, but not the west, where they have more water than the great lakes !
