Buried in the file was all this info on 'unconventional' drilling (which is commonly referred to as fracking)

Now I wonder if the idea was to make money from 'fracking' but when they found out it was not viable at this well they abandoned it?

Where is the investigative reporters who should be really looking into this?

Should not the County have to tell us why they wasted a half a million of OUR money on this well?

Why have they refused to answer? Someone made a huge mistake..and it is us, the taxpayers who have to pay up.

GAS WELL INFO

I have the documents that show the cost. These were NOT easy to come by. After asking what I thought were pretty straight forward, simple questions I was told I had to come to Mayville and go through the file myself.

My questions: How much did the gas well cost? Who authorized it? Why is it not connected?

I had to invoke the Freedom of Information Act (thanks DKexpat) in order to get any of the answers.

I have a copy of the contract to drill for about $444,000. Then there are smaller contracts for much less money for surveys, consultation, etc. Mixed in there is info on a FOR profit gas company giving the rights to the gas to the County. I do not understand this, and could not see what they got in exchange. Anyone who might be interested I will share what info I obtained..maybe someone could make better sense out of it.

My local legislator was to find out more info..so far no response.

I think the cost of the gas well changed the same way Edwards said the home was losing $9,00 a day and now he says its $7,000 a day. I believe the money for the gas well was placed into two seperate lines items in the budget. The first was to drill the well and the second was to connect the well to the home. The well was drilled, but never connected. I am not sure what happened to the rest of the money, maybe it went into the general fund at the end of the budget year.

SonnyB your research is false. I guess that you believe that 25 posts on this site somehow makes you credible. Your accusations are outright lies. Why do you insist on an argument based on falsehoods. Try the truth. BTW how did the gaswell go from $350K to $400K and now $450K?

bulldog10:The Home was doing fine until Edwards decided to have a vendetta against the Home and the whole union.Interesting to note, the idea of expanding the rehab unit to increase revenue,as peoples private insurance pays the Home cash, has been tossed around by me and others, but Edwards laid waste to that idea. Now this new buyer mentions the same thing and now this guy according to Edwards has a solution.Give me break!.What about the white elephant Gas well?.$450,000 wasted of taxpayer money!.Edwards wanted the Home sold the first day he set foot in office 7 years ago.He lies thru his teeth,he is a phoney!.

Paul, paul, paul. Lying in wait for me to make a comment. So low of you. But I must say not illegal, just like you can follow someone in public like Zimmerman which was not illegal. Wasn't charged remember.

Asking someone to write a story about why black leadership has done nothing to help poor blacks is legitimate.

Asking why blacks fill our jails is a concern? Asking why 50% of blacks fail to graduate from high school, that is a tragedy. Asking about black on black crime is a concern. Do you know more blacks are in jail then were slaves in 1850?

My comments focus on who is to blame for that? And what has black leadership done to help? Your so concerned yet you make fun of writing a story about it.

In contrast, saying Jews won't take care of old people because they are Jews and only seek money is different.

SonnyB, your research is interesting and I would like to see further information about it. But your racist comments are uncalled for. The religion of the people have no bearing on the situation at all and is not a consideration in this case. What is important is if they are qualified nursing home operators. I still stand against the sell of the home but it has nothing to do with their religion.

"ANd to call someone out as a Jew is just wrong." Funny there Bulldog, you don't seem to mind making an issue about the general degradation of the entire Black community. I think you should write an article about Jews,

According to Sonny and his complaints; anyone could come along and not be good enough to own the home. Including God. If God wanted to purchase the country home it would not be good enough for Sonny and others.

Of course they are in it to make money, if the county home was being run breaking even that would be good enough for the taxpayers. But they are not breaking even, they are costing us more and more as each day goes by.

ANd to call someone out as a Jew is just wrong.

SMITHTOWN, New York (WABC) -- Workers at a Long Island nursing home say a bed bug problem is so bad, they keep moving patients room to room to escape the bugs.

"They're horrible they're all over the place and now to know you haven't been told," said Cindy.

Cindy asked us to conceal her identity. Afraid speaking out will cost her her job as a nurse at the Avalon Gardens nursing home in Smithtown.

She says managers at the facility notified a select group of staffers yesterday about the discovery of bedbugs

Some workers told Eyewitness News they were not informed.

The state Health Department confirmed they're investigating a complaint.

According to Cindy, the nursing home officials continue to shuffle residents from one room to another while new patients are being moved in.

The 10 nurses were quickly dispatched to work for a SentosaCare home in Smithtown, Avalon Gardens Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, but they said it was soon obvious that the terms of their contracts were not being honored. They joined 16 other Filipino nurses in claiming they were significantly underpaid, did not receive the same health insurance and workers' compensation benefits as other nurses and worked on understaffed shifts.

Avalon Gardens Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Located at 7 Route 25A, Smithtown, NY 11787-1626.Martin Farvenblum,Board member,Corporate stockholder. THE 10 Filipino nurses were branded by the Suffolk County district attorney as derelict in their duties, accused of abandoning five chronically ill children, four of whom were on ventilators, and one terminally ill man by quitting their jobs in 2006 in a labor dispute. But in a strongly worded ruling, a state appeals court, the Appellate Division in Brooklyn, has barred District Attorney Thomas J. Spota from prosecuting the nurses. The court said that he joined with their employers in forcing them into 'involuntary servitude' by using criminal sanction to require them to work against their will, thus violating the nurses' constitutional rights under the 13th Amendment. The Jan. 13 ruling also said the district attorney violated the First Amendment rights of the lawyer who advised the nurses by prosecuting him for conspiracy.

Hey Snotman. Its 2 men and 1 women. Not 3 men.You make me laugh.Apparently these 2 men and 1 women must sit home and watch the money roll in,because any Favenblum Nursing Home they have an affiliation with are less then stellar deficiency wise.If they were hands on operators they would not let their Homes have any.

SonnyB, aka MachineHead, aka Otziman, aka Ron H. continues to spew lies about any purchaser that comes along. He wants to know why all of the potential purchasers are jewish. Because these three men are astute businessmen that made wise business decisions, they did not sit at home and collect a check.
