September 9, 2013

SOUTH DAYTON — Children munched on cotton candy and looked on in amazement while the old-timers remembered days gone by, as the clock turned back time to the 1920s and the community of South Dayton......

Oh, and by the way, despite the boo-birds making their appearance, I thought the entire concept was pretty cool, and it's too bad about the rain. I think a combined Gowanda/South Dayton event should be planned that celebrates the filing of "Trains, Planes and Automobiles", also filmed there, and why the train was painted the way it was. I'll never forget my son and his step brother, about 11 at the time, wading across the creek and somehow winding up standing next to John Candy. He looked surprised, asked where they'd come from, and laughed his head off when they told him. They got autographs! Events like these are what make small towns as good as they are.

I don't believe its celebrated every year as it was this year.I road the train from Gowanda to south dayton and have to say it was an enjoyable experience.Except for the rain on reboarding in S.Dayton on Sat.And having to'back up' for the 16 people who missed getting back on...

Those who missed the train should have been required to find their own way back to Gowanda. Am tired of people catering to the bad behaviour of the me, Me, MEs (3Ms).

Wow, sort of sad that having parts of a movie filmed there is cause for a yearly celibration for 30 years.
