A great hstory of times past. I too swam at the "old" channel entrance lighthouse. The diving bosrd ws donated by a radio repair company. I can't recall the name. They were good times. And to top it off we used to beat Fredonia in football. That's now ancient history too.

During the 50'3 we used to find pieces of elemental Sulphur on the beach at Pt. Gratiot, presumeably from a shipwreck. During the Summer of 2003 while visiting I returned to the beach at the Point, and sure enough, found 2 pieces of Sulphur, much smaller I might add. I also found my name carved in the Sandstone blocks at the location of the old lighthouse pedestal at the Channel where we used to swim during the Summer(during the 50's). At that time the old tower was there and there was a diving board on the platform. That has all changed, of course.
