EVERYTHING "MOST" OF THESE SUPPORTERS HAVE SAID IS CORRECT. THE JOBS, THE PATIENTS, THE COMMUNITY. SO AS NOT TO BE REDUNDANT I WILL ADD THE AMBULANCE/FIRE DEPARTMENTS WHO WILL SUFFER ALSO. IF THEY HAVE TO GO LONGER DISTANCES IT WILL AFFECT VOLUNTEERISM. THAT WILL THEN LEAVE THE COMMUNITIES WITHOUT THOSE SERVICES AND A HOSPITAL. I TOO BELIEVE IT ALL STARTED WITH MEDICOR AND WENT DOWN HILL FROM THERE AND THE BRAIN WASHED BOARD NEVER HAD A CLUE.EVERYONE NEEDS TO KEEP/START WRITING (AS LAKESHORESUPPORTER STATED) TO DR. SHAH NYSDOH, ATTORNEY GENERAL SNEIDERMAN,CATHY YOUNG, WHO HAS BEEN A BIG SUPPORTER, MR'S. GIGLIO, GOODELL, & SHUMER. KIRSTIN GILIEBRANDT, CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY DEPT OF HEALTH & EXECUTIVE. THE HANOVER TOWN BOARD MEMBERS. ETC.ETC. DO NOT STOP FIGHTING FOR ALL.

Chuck329, that is another thing that is not being talked about (the horse and buggy). Lake Shore serves a lot of Amish people at the hospital and at the clinic in Conowango. Where are they going to go?? LERSHNY obviously does not care

something else to consider, a trip to the emergency room at Brook's takes anywhere up to 4 hours longer that going to Westfield, can one imagine what the time will be if Brooks is the only game around

MatthiasJ, you are also correct about Medicaid not paying for services out of the area. That is because Medicaid believes their money spent on health care should stay local, whenever possible, and not be going to another state

MatthasJ, you are 100% correct except for the day care. They are licensed separately so I don't believe UPMC-Hamot can touch them. They would be trying to sell them already as they are trying to sell everything off in bits and pieces. Keep in mind, they stand to make a very big profit if they are allowed to do this.EVERYONE needs to write, as you said, to the State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman and The State Department of Health Commissioner Dr Nirau R. Shah. Both addresses are easy to find on the internet. I would encourage everyone to write to their local elected officials as well. I have done both.I also agree with you about the grant to add on to and remodel the ER and Outpatient entrance. There is no way they didn't see this coming because they have orchestrated all of this from the being of the "merger" (hostile takeover)

PhilJulian. in a perfect world the helicopters would be great BUT helicopters can't fly if there are rainstorms, fog, hale, sleet, snowstorms, and high winds. In short, if the sun is shining and there is no high winds they can fly. It might be sunny in Silver Creek and an entirely different story where they have to fly to. So that means you want critically ill patients to be forced into a 2 hr ambulance ride in a snowstorm because they have no choice but to go to a hospital 80 miles away from North Collins. By the way, North Collins is 25 miles away from Brooks as opposed to the 13 to Lakeshore. I don't know how long Dunkirk has had a hospital but Silver Creek has had one since the late 1800's.

lakeshore supporter, we also have the issue of the 2 million dollar grant they took from the state of NY to remodel the ER and the outpatient check in area and 2 months after it was completed say oh by the way we are closing the hospital. So why did they get the grant???? The deficit didn't occur overnight. The Town of Hanover cannot support the loss of 700 jobs in the space of 6 months or did we forget the 240 from Petri's this summer. There will be more houses put up for sale than you can count. Along with the mental health unit, we lose the Chemical Dependency unit and the Intergenerational Daycare business on the campus. I have been in communication with Sen, Young and she suggests a wring campaign to the state director of Health and the Atty. General about all of the issues connected with this mess. It needs to be a massive campaign to get the attention of those who can help, not just one or two letters.

Lakeshoresupporter, you have very many valid points. Let's take this a little further and flush out the other name. Medicor is also a part of UPMC and is kown as a practice building group( ask any physician who refuses to participate) They schedule execessive testing so they can bill insurance companies. What 90 year old lady needs a stress test every 3 months. A true story of someone I knew. There are other tales that I have heard that would curl your hair. Further, those who think there is nothing wrong with this mess better hhope they have top of the line insurance because not many will pay for extended treatment in an out of state hospital except for emergency stabilization. I'm told that Medicaid won't pay for out of state and I have heard of others who have checked and their insurance won't pay either. To force people who are seriously ill to do that is criminal never mind forcing families to travel as much as 80 miles one way to get to Hamot in all kinds of weather.

Phil..At $10,000/ride in a helicopter we will go broke. Besides medical helicopters can only land patients at a level one trauma center.

Setting up multiple accounts allows a single person to "click" on one post numerous times. Again, quite obvious, and also pretty childish.

Reading some of these posts from the nay-sayers, have anyone of you thought about the people that are loosing their jobs? May be you've never gone through something like that? I think the Mayor is right. Why wasn't the sale to Mr. Borello exepted? A 7 million dollar deficet would be gone and there would be 8 millon left!

philjulian, helicopters are great but are very expensive. and how about when we have one of our many significant snow events and they cant fly?? also, lerhsny (upmc-hamot) is trying to close everything at lakeshore. how would you like your 87 year old mother driving herself the extra miles on a snowy day to get her blood drawn or get an xray or even visit your 88 year old father who is in the hospital?? and that is only if they havent moved him to erie pa!! that is one of the biggest reasons lerhsny doesnt want to sell lakeshore. they want it closed so that hamot gets more business.

Has anyone considered the expanded use of helicopters for emergency transportation in outlying areas? I would agree that Silver Creek needs a 24/7 urgent care facility and that might be the best answer along with the helicopter utilization. The horse and buggy days are over and small communities simply can't afford the services found in major population areas but that doesn't mean that quality services can't be provided by using a little imagination.

Butterfield seems to be a relatively new contributor, and looking at what posts they're replying to, I'd say he/she runs in the same circles as the BOD of Brooks, and certain local political groups like the DLDC and such. Much too obvious.

butterfield. i don't know how fast you drive but i try to follow speed limits and if there is any snow or ice on the roads (which does happen in our area)the drive is much longer then 10 minutes. how about the people in gowanda, perrysburg and the reservation?? how far are they from the nearest emergency care outside of monday thru friday 8 to 8?? what our their roads like in the winter?? you obviously have no clue what you are talking about!! consolidated services would be great but upmc-hamot is trying to dictate where we receive our health care services and risking many lives in the process!!!!

In other counties our size, we would be lucky to have 2 hospitals, with consolidated services. There is no reason to have 2 within 10 minutes of each other in such a small community.

yes christopher, one of the largest physician groups in the area but i wont mention which one either. thank you for pointing that out. not many people realize that because they were very quiet about it.

another question. if brooks is so "vibrant", why does lerhsny(upmc-hamot) need to sell lakeshore for a big profit or in pieces to make more?? also, if brooks is so "trustworthy', why the damage control?? you are right commentor, something big is going to come out and then the entire community will know what lersny has done. i only hope the people responsible will be punished accordingly.
