It’s time to yell, ‘Danger!’

January 1, 2014

There was a television show years ago, “Lost in Space,” in which a family was stranded on an unknown planet with a robot that looked a little like the droid R2-D2 of Star Wars....

DxPat: When in doubt, attack the person? This is (certainly) not scholarship, though if you want it to be, I'll cite references (actually I have cited one source to consider). There's nothing amiss in this casual give and take that is not communicative. I am (using my own name) a professional editor of scholarly journals and whatever failings you may wish to judge have nothing important to do with the arguments: these postings are "conversational" (to say the least) and if you want scholarship, most readers don't. Why do you devolve to ad hominem points? Where are you ex-patriot from that you feel so confident that contributors should check their typos? Shall I monitor yours from now on; that's all besides the point. The arguments are clear. Agree or not.

Regelski, maybe we could start with some baby steps - grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.

Following AnnetteVickAsbill: These columns have become opportunities for a range of crazies to confront each other. Their content is not particularly "abuse," except to the reason of intelligent, concerned readers. This newspaper is complicit in allowing a forum for this exhibitionism that is uncontrolled. No one in authority reads a post unless it is flagged as "abuse" (according to the Editor). But what about, as the writer complains: taking over the site and using it as a newspaper for one's own ramblings and venom. This is not the service, as I see it, of a community news source. As argued earlier, comments to print articles on these webpage columns should adhere to the same controls as govern the print articles: authors should be expected to identify themselves, their address, and any other guarantees that they are who they say they are. That's the democratic way: not just speak your mind but to be socially accountable for it to the community.

Dear God! This is ridiculous. Steiner has his own newspaper!!! Vicki, please write something he cant comment on - reality. Obviously he is insane or on drugs. Is it possible he is incarcerated or committed to an asylum? He has been given too much latitude. What happened to the 1000 character maximum guideline? Does anyone monitor these comments?

Maybe you can get George Soros to "buy" you a law doing just that. You backed his causes maybe he'll return the favor.

More examples of why contributors to this site need to be identified as to who they really are in our community. Steiner actually sounds dangerous, given his slim grasp of reality. Does he own a gun? Should he? Does he drive a car? Should he? He's a menace--assuming that he's a He--who's to know. Very undemocratic to be able to vent your exhibitionism without accountability and responsibility for views.

Hey STiener, you said no ona ask a chemsist about Co2 and Global Warming. You know why they dont ? Because of your clueless responces they do need to ask chemists. ta duh :-)

So now you change from water and CO2 in the atmosphere to all the water on the planet. Make up your disturbed mind on what you want to compare, then proceed. No wonder you are such a poor scientist.

cade, you missed out on my nuclear irn and safe act. i wanted to point out the disconnect from reality the libs have. Guns are not a threat, neither is co2 , but a nuclear iran is. All science runs on analogies and you flunked this test. the stupid liberals then focus on another disconnect, the fact that fire yields water and co2 and that co2 does not trap heat like water does. Ya never noticed all the white water vapor trails in the sky ? all that water vapor, trapping heat. the co2 is negligable. you missed that the earth has not warmed since the 90s. actually cade, you miss everything ! so tell me i am nuts cade. it is you who are misinformed , not me. if i am misinformed then all the scientists that made billions of pounds of polymer are also misinformed as to water, co2 and other moieties in chemistry. Once again you mock the science greats.if you mention infra red spectroscopy to a weatherman, he will say , whats that ? clueless as usual.

cade, a group of scientists agree and you think that is proof or science? Wrong again. you dont know science. any invention is a negation of the accepted dogma.tesla was mocked when he said he wanted to get rid of the commutator in a DC motor. he did, his mockers were like you cade. you missed that cade, like you missed bhopal vs civil war. thats why there are nobel prizes for certain achievments. The nobel receivers negated the accepted values and changed society. I have said this so many times, you people just got to be ignorant on what science actually is. cade, you missed my desert comments, there is more water than co2 even in a desert. the dry air heats and cools rapidly.wispy clouds hold up the temp at night. your co2 theory kaputs on the spot cade. you goofed again. how can you miss this ? Dont you have simple observation technique?

the posters always follow a familiar pattern. first they say they want proof. proof is offered, then denied. Mere quoting is not enough, but then they quote scientists.thats proof to them. Com mentor look up everything i say. its all there. even cade says methane traps more heat than co2 but then has a lapse in judgement. He say there is more co2 in the air than methane. corrrect. But, cade missed his big goof up. there is always more water in the air then co2 and methane. water is a huge heat absorber, bigger than methane, any analytical chemist knows that.proven science by machine and observation. How water tanks consume 18% of americas energy . cade just sunk himself and does not even know it. just like commentors list of gal philosophers to show that gals are in philosophy. In that list the gals said , guys dominated that field . Golly you posters are dumb.

Stuper Stiener said "So cade, now you see why cuomo passed the safe act ! The biggest danger to the world is a nuclear iran and this technology " .............what the heck does the Safe Act have to do with Nuclear Power. yeah I am 100% sure Coumo was thinking that the SAFE ACT has everything to do with Nuclear weapons. Holy cow are you off base. Do really know what you are talking about.

Vicki you certainly lit a fire here. I see Steinernut has not addressed my post of she/he is a woman wishing she were a man. Ladies and gentlemen I think I have solved the Steinernut mystery. Steiner you quoting science does NOT make you a scientist or an inventor. You show NO proof!!!

methane does trap more heat but is far less abundant in the atmosphere than CO2. Or did you miss that in the scientific report I posted earlier completed by REAL scientist.

The hole in the ozone in not over the desert door knob. Haven't you check the web to no this. I bet your scientist ( ??? ) buddies laugh at you all day long. I know we do here. "95% of all scientist agree " man is responcible for global warm. AKA. Co2 If you copy and paste you will see that is a true statement. BUt you will say they ( 95% of all SCIENTIST ) have it wrong, which make you look like laugh of loud ,like STIENER on a Stuper.

So cade, now you see why cuomo passed the safe act ! The biggest danger to the world is a nuclear iran and this technology i have mentioned, in the open , in nefarious hands. Do you see now cade that liberals are absolutly stupid, ignorant , but cunning people ? did i give enough facts.could you understand it libs ? I cared and shared some facts with you ! I am on the verge of hysterical sobbing, i care so much !i am going to join the LWV.
