The lack of competent law enforcement is just the precursor of the real problem. The Village has no jobs, thus not viable tax base. You can’t State & Federal Grant your way out of the drug / crime problem.

About time. Alessi was one part of THE problem in Gowanda. And Nephew, besides all of the community volunteering, is a nice but simple person who would have been easily flummoxed by the web of deception, lies, bad information. Her own son was a constant problem in Gowanda.

It would appear they're doing things properly. Of course, tjefson doesn't see it that way, he thinks all public services should be free.

"The board also hired an outside agency to investigate an employment claim within the police department. This outside agency will replace Trustee Barb Nephew, who was appointed as temporary compliance officer last month".

My, how easy it is to spend other peoples money. Investigation and litigation costs to find out why the wolves turned on one another. The demotion must have been based on fact, not mere speculation. Why the need for investigation? From the story, it appears Barb Nephew is part of the scandal.
