Frederick Belson

Frederick Belson, 77, of Burton Avenue, Ripley, died peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on February 15, 2008.

He was born in Ripley on August 31, 1930, a son of the late John and Nora Redding Belson.

He was a graduate of Ripley Central School and had served with the United States Army and was stationed in Korea for two years. He was a mechanic who was employed by Hubbard’s Trucking and had owned and operated Fred’s Garage in Ripley. He had also worked for the Ripley Water Department for 17 years. He was very proud of his lawn and enjoyed keeping it up, yet his greatest love was for his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Marian Parker Belson, whom he married August 5, 1950; his son Jeffrey Belson of Ripley; six grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Nathaniel, Christopher, and Bethany Belson, all of Ripley, and Melanie Belson of Westfield, and two great granddaughters Lauren and Emma Lindsey.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two sons John and Thomas, four brothers and three sisters.

Internment will be held privately. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of Chautauqua County 188 South Erie Street Mayville, NY 14757.

The Mathews Funeral Home in Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
