Warrant issued for NYer who aided dad's drown scam

MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a suburban New York man who admitted helping fake his father's disappearance from Jones Beach in an insurance scam.

The Nassau County district attorney's office confirmed Tuesday that Jonathan Roth failed to appear at his scheduled sentencing last Friday.

Roth pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy. Court documents show hehas several warrants pending for unrelated harassment charges involving a girlfriend.

Raymond Roth admitted he faked his own death off Jones Beach. He was expected to get a 90-day jail sentence, but was later arrested on attempted kidnapping charges.

Jonathan Roth's attorney says he doesn't know where his client is. He said he hopes his failure to appear was a scheduling error.
