NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities have charged a man they say is a member of the M18 street gang with murder in the shooting death of 33-year-old Queens man.
Queens District Attorney Richard Brown says Friday Pedro Silva also faces weapons possession and tampering with evidence charges related to the Sept. 20 homicide of Ivan Rodriguez below a set of elevated subway tracks.
Silva was in custody and unavailable for comment. No attorney information was immediately available.
Prosecutors say the 20-year-old Silva and other gang members were chasing Rodriguez when he fell below the tracks. They say that's when Silva shot Rodriguez in the head and neck with a .22-caliber gun.
They say the gun and ammunition were later discovered in a nearby garbage pile.
