MURRAY, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say the driver of a car that crashed into a school bus on a snow-covered western New York road has died, while five students are being checked out at a hospital as a precaution.

The Orleans County sheriff's office tells local media outlets that a man was driving east on Route 104 around 7:40 a.m. Tuesday when he crossed the center line and hit the bus in the rural town of Murray, 25 miles west of Rochester.

Deputies say the man died at the scene. The five Kendall High School students on the bus and the driver were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

Roads in the area were snow-covered, but deputies say the cause of the crash is being investigated.
