“Lefty,” 78, of Dunkirk,

died Thursday evening, June

19, 2008 at the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk following a brief illness.

He was born July 8, 1929, in Dunkirk, son of the late Michael and Catherine (Gawronski) Rzepkowski.

He was an employee of the US Postal Service in Dunkirk, retiring in 2001 follow-ing 33 years of service.

His memberships include St. Hedwig’s R. C. Church, 1st ward Falcons Club, Kosciuszko Polish Home, and member and founding member of the Northern Chautauqua Conservation Club.

Mr. Rzepkowski enjoyed hobbies, one of which was wood carving.

Surviving is his wife of 57 years, Esther (Maslakowski) Rzepkowski, whom he married Nov. 23, 1950; their children, Neal Rzepkowski, of Cassadaga, Richard and Marlene Rzepkowski, of Rochester, Terry and Michelle Rzepkowski, of Ruskin, FL, Wendy and Ian Vosper, of Rockhill, SC; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Josephine (Mucha) Rzepkowski, of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Helen McCune and infant Gertrude Rzepkowski; and brothers, Ches-ter and Michael Rzepkowski.

Relatives and friends are welcome to call at the R. Mackowiak Funeral Home, 56 East Doughty Street, Dunkirk, on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:15 and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’clock in St. Hedwig’s R. C. Church. En-tombment will be in Holy Cross Columbarium in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of western New York, 2805 Wehrle Drive Ste. 6, Willi-amsville, NY 14221.
