Perrysburg residents get answers to questions
By JACKI COMELLOPERRYSBURG - The room was packed Monday night for town board meeting in Perrysburg, including several residents who had questions related to the water district projects.
Ken Kuczka wanted to know why the right of way on his property hasn't been marked yet as promised.
"We haven't heard another word about it," he said.
On hand to answer some of the questions was Consulting Engineer Mark Alianello. He assured Kuczka he will contact him to make arrangements for the area to be marked.
Another resident wanted to know why the trees removed from her property last year had not been replaced according to her written agreement. The board plans to review the agreement.
"Anything that was agreed to will be done," replied Alianello.
Wayne Cross addressed the board about water surfacing in his lawn. "Right now it's nothing but a swamp. I can't mow my lawn."
Alianello assured Cross he will get in touch with the contractor and arrange a meeting to get the situation resolved.
Alianello had good news to report about the rehabilitation of several existing wells that may serve the Central Water District. The work on one well is complete and rehabilitation and cleaning is scheduled for at least two others.
The Versailles Water District Report indicated that the new chlorinating system is now operating and the boil order has been lifted.
In other news:
n Rising fuel costs have affected the highway department. Highway Supervisor Dan Stang said his department had delayed mowing for a couple of weeks in response to this increase.
n The increased cost to post public notices caused the board to pass a resolution raising the fee for variance requests and special exception hearings. The fee is now $35, which is a $10 increase.
n There will be a public hearing next month about a new local law which will create a moratorium on wind farms as requested by the Zoning Board. If the law is passed, wind farm applications will not be accepted until procedures and policies are put in place to control their development.
n As part of the celebration of Cattaraugus County's 200th anniversary, a time capsule is being created. The Town of Perrysburg will have a small space in this capsule and they would like to include the names and service numbers of active military personnel. Family or Friends of Perrysburg residents who are serving in this capacity are asked to contact Town Clerk Peg Watkins at 532-4090 with this information.
The next town board meeting will be on July 14 at 7 p.m.
