Higgins giving Brocton Commencement address
BROCTON- Congressman Brian Higgins will be delivering the commencement address for the Brocton Central School Class of 2008.
Graduation will be held in the High School Gym today at 10 a.m. Members of the school community are invited to attend the graduation ceremony that will honor the accomplishments and achievements of the Class of 2008.
Valedictorian Matthew Robbins and Salutatorian Adam Brown will lead the Class of 2008 into the ceremony. Members of the Board of Education, administration and faculty also take part in the commencement processional.
Brian Higgins currently serves as a Member of Congress from New York's 27th Congressional District, which comprises a large portion of the city of Buffalo, most of the eastern and southern suburban localities within Erie County, and all of Chautauqua County in Western New York.
Congressman Higgins served as a member of the New York State Assembly from 1998 to 2004, and prior to that as a member of the Buffalo Common Council, where in a 1993 Buffalo News survey he was named "Buffalo's Best Councilmember." In addition to his service on the House's Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, Congressman Higgins also serves as a member of the Oversight and Government Reform and Small Business Committees.
Congressman Higgins is the son of Daniel Higgins Sr., a retired bricklayer, local and state government official and Mary Higgins, a retired schoolteacher. He is a graduate of Buffalo State College and Harvard University. He and his wife, Mary Jane Hannon, and their two children, John and Maeve, reside in South Buffalo.
