Flame of hope

Stuczynski is coming home Tuesday

POSTED: August 3, 2008

Tuesday will be an exciting day for the local community.

Fredonia's Olympian is coming home.

Jennifer Stuczynski will be in Fredonia to take part in National Night Out. She will be available to sign autographs and pose for photos from 7 to 8 p.m. at the West Barker Commons.

With the opening ceremonies for the Olympics to kick off Friday, this will be the only chance for the community to wish Chautauqua County's Olympian good luck before she leaves.

Stuczynski is the No. 1 pole vaulter in the United States and is No. 2 in the world. She is a 2000 graduate of Fredonia High School.

Stuczynski qualified for the Olympics last month at the U.S. trials with a U.S. record jump of 16-feet-1 3/4 inches.
