Bicentennial Wagon Train arrives today
SOUTH DAYTON - Today at about 4 p.m., the Cattaraugus County Bicentennial Wagon Train will arrive in South Dayton as part of a two-week journey around the county.
The South Dayton Fire Department will host the Wagon Train group's overnight stay at the Fireman's grounds. The Firebells will prepare the group's evening meal.
The evening's program will start about 5:45 p.m. with a welcome from the community. Over the past several months, Adolf and Louise Zollinger, children of Louie and Marcia Zollinger, have been researching the history of Cattaraugus County. Miss South Dayton Bicentennial, Laural Killock, daughter of Rob Killock, will make a presentation of this history. More of the history will be available that evening. Local history will be presented to the Wagon Train Group for the time capsule.
From 6 to 8 p.m., Top Hat Entertainment will present "A Moment in Time with Patsy Cline" by Vicky Sanders of South Dayton. Throughout the evening, the Firebells will sell hot dogs, hamburgers and soft drinks. Those attending should bring seating.
On Tuesday morning, the Boy Scouts will prepare breakfast for the Wagon Train Group before they start their journey to Gowanda.
