Howard Hanna Holt Real Estate agent organizes Mayville Canal Fest

MAYVILLE - For the second straight year, Howard Hanna Holt Real Estate agent Patricia Prusha organized a little known festival at the Big Inlet Canal in Mayville.
Last Saturday's "block party" for residents of the canal area including Mill, Elmwood, Galloway and Sand'alwood roads was a success, according to Prusha.
"There were about 60 boats, floats, paddleboats and jet skis with lots of people enjoying live music, getting reacquainted with old friends and making new ones," she said.
Prusha said the vessels along the shoreline included a Big Mable float, an inflatable 4-foot high yellow rubber ducky, a 1942 Antique fishing boat and cabin cruisers. One family even celebrated a birthday with a 6-foot high inflatable birthday cake.
"We went into the water last year," she said, explaining that people who might be hesitant to get onto a real dance floor had no problem jumping into the water and dancing to the music provided by the Harbour Knights band. "It was a huge success so we did it again this year."
Every boat was provided with inflatable saxophones, guitars and microphones so they could "play" along with the band. T-shirts promoting the event were distributed and the band passed out copies of its recently released CD "Everything's Alright."
