BROCTON - After playing to a scoreless tie in the first half Tuesday during CCAC Divison 3 boys' soccer action, Brocton (0-5-1, 0-0-1) and North Collins each scored a single goal as the teams played to a 1-1 tie.

Dan Kehr scored two-minutes into the second half to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Don Monica assisted on the play, leaving the ball for Kehr who took a shot that bounced around before reaching Bulldog keeper Sebastian Hazelton, where it went through his legs and into the net.

Brocton's Jim Andin scored unassisted on a breakaway 12-minutes into the half, tying the game at 1-1.

Hazelton made 12 saves on 13 shots for Brocton while Stevie Ray Foit stopped 13 of 14 shots for North Collins.

Division 2

Frewsburg 2, Silver Creek 1

SILVER CREEK - Blake Bird scored the eventual game-winning goal off a corner kick with 8:13 left in regulation Tuesday, as Frewsburg (3-1) topped Silver Creek (3-2-1, 2-2), 2-1 in CCAC Division 2 boys' soccer action.

Silver Creek keeper Joe Kapa got his hands on the ball, but was unable punch it free of the box as it deflected off Bird's head and into the net.

Scott Shaffer scored one-minute into the game, giving the Bears a 1-0 lead. After the Bears sent the ball deep into the Black Knights zone, Kapa misplayed the ball, allowing Shaffer to pick it up and put it into the net.

"It was an evenly played match," Silver Creek head coach Eric Johengen said. "But I think we were a little snakebitten. Unfortunately it was one of those days."

Ian Ward scored on an assist from Phil Karlstrom with three minutes left in the second half to cut the Frewsburg lead to 2-1, but the Black Knights were unable to muster any more offense the rest of the way.

"We never really challenged them with a shot to tie the game," Johengen said. "There was some spirited play in the mid field, but we never really challenged."

Westfield 2, Cassadaga Valley 0

SINCLAIRVILLE - The Westfield Wolverines (6-1) scored four and a half minutes into the first half and never looked back as they downed the Cassadaga Valley Cougars (0-1-3, 1-1-3) 2-0.

The Wolverine goal was scored by Derek Smith on an assist from Chris Cardo.

The Cougars defense ran the offsides trap which slowed Westfield for the rest of the first half.

"Our defense ran the offsides trap well," Cassadaga Valley coach Jill Purol said. "They were called offsides nine times in the game."

Cassadaga Valley's defensive scheme continued to work until the Wolverines' Robson Knappenberger scored 15 minutes into the second half.

"Our goalie, Bryce Mason did a very good job," Purol said.

Mason had 13 saves in the net for the Cougars.

Purol also complimented Westfield's keeper Tyler North who recorded 10 saves.

"Our team is constantly improving and we are looking forward to more success this season," Purol added.

The Cougar's next game is Thursday at home against Frewsburg.
