The OBSERVER

Maury and Rhoda Hollowell of Olean celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a dinner hosted by their children at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk on Aug. 29.

The couple was married on Aug. 28, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Olean. The Rev. Norman J. Read officiated, with Robert P. Van Deusen serving as best man and Barbara A. Peterson serving as maid of honor for her sister.

Maury worked for several years as an accountant at the Line Material Plant, now Cooper Industries, before retiring as a materials manager in 1988. Rhoda worked briefly as secretary for the First Baptist Church after their four children attended public schools. Both served for many years in various roles at the First Baptist Church, from nursery attendant to deacon.
