Car, tractor trailer collide
KENNEDY - One person was seriously injured in a head-on collision Thursday.
According to the State Police at Jamestown, Tiffany A. Lindquist, 22, of Frewsburg, was driving north on Route 62. As she approached a sharp right curve in a no passing zone, Lindquist apparently drifted into the southbound lane, crossed over the double solid yellow line and went into the path of a tractor trailer, driven and owned by Joas M. Swartzentruber, 37, of Millersburg, Ohio.
Troopers said Lindquist's vehicle struck the tractor trailer head on and came to rest in the east shoulder of Route 62. She had to be pulled from her vehicle using the "Jaws of Life," also known as a Hurst tool, by Kennedy Volunteer Fire Department. The Carroll Volunteer Fire Department and Alstar Ambulance also assisted.
Lindquist was transported to Hamot Hospital, in Erie Pa. via Starflight helicopter where she is currently undergoing surgery and is listed in serious condition.
Swartzentruber was able to walk away from his tractor trailer completely uninjured with his passenger, his 2-year-old son Zaccheaus, in his arms. Troopers said Zaccheaus was protected from injury because he was properly secured in the passenger front seat in a child restraint seat and the father was wearing his seat belt.
