Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church welcomes pastor

SILVER CREEK - Christ Chapel Wesleyan Church of Silver Creek will welcome Pastor Michael Leamon and his wife, Wendy, at a reception after the morning worship service Sunday.

Leamon comes from Bethlehem, Pa., where he served as senior pastor to five Wesleyan churches in New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in pre-seminary at United Wesleyan College in Allentown, Pa., with a focus in Christian education; his master of divinity at Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, N.J., with a focus on Christian education; and plans to begin doctoral work in 2009. He has also served as administrative assistant in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey District Office of The Wesleyan Church. He has served on several Wesleyan boards and committees over the years and taught a youth ministry course at The United Wesleyan College in Allentown.

Leamon enjoys writing and has authored a column, "Faith and Values," for the Morning Call Newspaper of Allentown where he was also a regular contributor of many articles. He was awarded the Amy Writing Award in 2007.

Leamon met and married Wendy in 1980 while both attended college. Wendy grew up in Zambia, Africa, where her parents served as missionaries. They are the parents of Joana, 23, who lives in Bethlehem, and Joshua, 20, who is a sophomore at Houghton College.
