WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (AP) — A man who was driving at nearly 100 mph when he crashed into a divider on a suburban New York parkway has been sentenced to two to four years in prison for the deaths of two passengers.
The Westchester County district attorney's office says Kenyatta Garner of Mount Vernon had been convicted of criminally negligent homicide, assault and speeding.
Prosecutors said Garner was driving a Mercedes Benz on the Saw Mill Parkway in 2012 when he veered into another lane and rear-ended a Honda. The Mercedes then hit the concrete divider and flipped several times. Two back-seat passengers were ejected and died.
Garner and two other passengers were injured.
Garner was indicted a year ago, found guilty in January and sentenced Monday.
