After a back-and-forth first half, Fredonia (5-4, 3-0) exploded for 24 points in the third quarter en route to their 69-53 win over CCAC Division 1 foe Allegany-Limestone on Monday.

Cody Eichelberger, who sat out much of the first half with two fouls, led the Hillbilles' charge, scoring 13 of his 17 points in the decisive third quarter. Chris DiRusso also helped, adding 10 of his game-high 19 during the Hillbillies' game-changing run.

"We played much better defense in the second half," Fredonia head coach Greg Lauer said. "Cody (Eichelberger) sat the whole second quarter, then scored 13 in the third. And DiRusso added 10, but we were able to get the ball inside really well."

Richard Swanson added 10 points in the win, while also adding a stout defensive effort along with Anthony Polvino and Mark Geise, in Eichelberger's abscence.

Matt Domboski collected a team-high 12 points for the Gators while Nate Keenan added 11 points and Marcus Aiello 10.

Olean 72, Gowanda 34

OLEAN - Olean (5-4, 2-1) set the defensive tone in the first quarter as the Huskies cruised to a 72-34 win over CCAC Division 1 counterpart Gowanda (7-2, 1-2), Monday in Olean.

"I thought it wouild be a good test," Olean head coach Jeff Anastasia said of Monday night's game.

"They (Gowanda) have five senior starters, but I thought we set the tone defensively from the start and I just think it carried over from the first quarter to the rest of the game."

Alex Moore led all scorers with 17 points while adding seven rebounds and three blocks. Also for the Huskies, Matt Carucci added 12 points and six rebounds while Ryan Carney added 10 points and James Chatmon 9.

Division 2

Westfield 62,

Randolph 48

WESTFIELD - Mike Bova scored 24 points and ripped down 16 boards in the Westfield Wolverines (7-1, 3-0) 62-48 win over the Randolph Cardinals (6-2, 2-1) in Division 2 action.

The Wolverines held the Cardinals to just six points in the first quarter and grabbed a seven-point lead. Then in the second quarter, the Wolverines and Bova took advantage of the Cardinals' big man Chris Erdman sitting on the bench due to foul trouble.

"The first half of defense we played today, was the best half of defense we've played at Westfield in a long time," Westfield coach Bob North said. "Bova and Erdman are two of the better big men in the league, and Bova got the better of him tonight. In the second quarter we had (Erdman) in foul trouble so we stuck the ball inside and scored some hoops and gave ourselves a nice lead going into half time."

In the third quarter the Cardinals rallied, scoring 19 points, while Westfield only put up 12.

Randolph came out with intensity again in the fourth, trailing 46-35, but Westfield spread out on offense and scored a lot of layups.

"They were being very aggressive and we spread the floor," North said. "(Marcus)Cuevas did a good job getting to the basket and got a couple layups and dished the ball to Bova for a couple layups. We really only scored on layups and free throws."

Cuevas finished with 13 points, six boards and five assists, while Mitch Kyser added five points and five assists.

Ashton Brown was the high scorer for the Cardinals with 19 points, and Erdman added nine points and nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs didn't outscore the Bobcats by vast amounts in any specific quarter, but they increased their lead in increments during the first three quarters.

"Outside of the fourth quarter we gained four or five points on them (in every quarter)," said Franze.
