Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kruszynski

Frank and Mildred (Maternowski) Kruszynski of 246 Maple Avenue Extension, Dunkirk, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

The couple was united in marriage Jan. 15, 1949 at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Dunkirk. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Julius Noe. An all-day reception followed at the 4th Ward Falcon Club in Dunkirk. They honeymooned in Niagara Falls.

During World War II (1943-1946), Frank served in the United States Army. He was part of the European Theater and Pacific Theater, and was stationed in France, the Philippines and Japan. He was honorably discharged at the rank of staff sergeant. He worked at and was manager of the A&P Grocery Store in Dunkirk for 31 years. He retired in 1987 from Dunkirk City Schools, where he worked at schools 3 and 4 as a custodian. He also served a term as president of the CSEA Dunkirk Public Schools Union. During his retirement years, Frank served as president of the Sheridan Happy Seniors Club.

Millie worked at the Van Raalte Factory and Safe Store in Dunkirk. She retired from Fredonia State University in 1989, where she had worked in the Rockefeller Theater and Arts Building.

The couple have two children - Shelley (Rick) Jakubowicz of Fredonia and the late Michael (Lauri) Kruszynski of Jacksonville, Fla. They are the grandparents of twins Jason Jakubowicz and Jaime (Ryan) Mourer of Fredonia, Victoria (Josh) Wilcher of Jacksonville; and step-grandparents of Kyle Spense of Jacksonville. They are the great-grandparents of Riley Oliver Mourer of Fredonia and Jasmine Wilcher of Jacksonville. They are also the step-great-grandparents of Ellen Marie Spense of Jacksonville.

The couple enjoys traveling and spending time in Florida.
