Univera Healthcare announces the appointment of Arthur Wingerter to the position of President.

Among his key responsibilities will be the nonprofit health plan's Commercial, Medicare and SafetyNet lines of business in the eight-county Western New York region.

Wingerter succeeds Mary Lee Campbell-Wisley who recently retired after leading the health plan for seven years.

Wingerter was previously Vice President of Healthcare Solutions at Genpact, a New Jersey-based global company with more than 35,000 employees worldwide. There, his responsibilities included development of cost containment strategies, new product development and acquisitions.

"Art's long history in Western New York, and his strong background in both health care and business management, make him well positioned to guide Univera Healthcare's future growth," said David H. Klein, Univera Healthcare CEO. "He understands the community, he understands the business, and he has the leadership and management skills needed to take Univera Healthcare to the next level."

Wingerter's health care experience includes serving as a senior vice president for North American Health Plans in Amherst, where his responsibilities included provider and network management, the development of new business strategies, and contract negotiations. He also served as CEO for Prism Health Networks, where he grew a small regional Independent Practice Association with 5 employees and 400 providers into a statewide IPA with 60 employees and more than 1,000 providers.

Outside of health care, Wingerter was CEO of The Advantage Company, a retail and distribution company based in Williamsville. During his tenure, The Advantage Company grew from a single location to a multi-state operation with revenues exceeding $65 million.

Wingerter is a Buffalo native and a University of Buffalo graduate with degrees in business administration and finance. He resides in Amherst with his wife Nancy and their children Alessandra, Andrew, Conner, and Chloe.

Univera Healthcare is a nonprofit health plan based in Buffalo that is part of a family of companies financing and delivering health services for about 1.8 million upstate New Yorkers, including approximately 200,000 members living in the eight counties that comprise Western New York. Univera Healthcare offers an array of benefit options designed to fit your life better. To learn more, visit www.univerahealthcare.com.
