Bull riding competition in front of the Budweiser grandstand and the Cowtown U.S.A. exhibition will be featured new events at this year's Chautauqua County Fair.
Fair Board president Lon Robinson of Silver Creek said, "Every day, every night there will events for families to enjoy, at the Budweiser grandstand, on the midway and at the Maytum Family Theater."
Members of the Fair Board booked the new events at the state association of agricultural fairs convention where most events for the summer season are scheduled.
Robinson said the decision to add the bull riding event will also help promote the Gerry Rodeo which generally takes place the weekend after the Fair ends.
"It's our hope to help build excitement for rodeo competition," he said. "The more we can promote that at the Fair, the more we can help the Gerry Rodeo to endure which is very important to our board members. At the same time, we are bringing a new attraction to the Fair that a lot of people will really enjoy."
The bull riding event is scheduled for Saturday, August 1 starting at 7 p.m.
The Cowtown U.S.A. exhibition will be located near the youth Ag Experience tent at the entrance to the fairgrounds from Central Avenue.
It will feature demonstrations throughout the day of cow milking and butter and ice cream making.
"It's agricultural, it's educational and it's very entertaining," Robinson said of the venue that will be the premier new attraction on this year's midway.
"Each year," he said, "we bring new entertainment to fairgoers and we look forward to a great Fair in 2009."
The 128th Chautauqua County Fair, chautauquacountyfair.org, will run this year from Monday, July 27 to Sunday, August 2.
