Mr. and Mrs. Guy Sievert

Guy and Sara Sievert of Round Rock, Texas recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with a party and open house at their Round Rock home. They were married in Dunkirk, on April 28, 1944 while Guy was home on leave from the U.S. Army Air Corps. After the war they lived in Dunkirk where Guy was employed in the dairy business and Sara worked for the State University of New York at Fredonia. After they retired in 1995 they moved to Round Rock to be close to their son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. While in Texas they have been extremely active in the Texas Senior Games. Both recently were elected into the Texas Senior Olympics Hall of Fame in recognition of their achievements in State and National swimming, basketball, track and field and other athletic competitions.

Their party was attended by family, friends and many of their Round Rock neighbors. Special guests included USAF Colonel (retired) Gail Farnham and Peggy Farnham of Waxahachie, Texas who have been close friends of the couple for more than 70 years since they originally met as teenagers in upstate New York. Guy Sievert Jr., his wife Donna Jose and her mother Louise Jose traveled from Portland, Ore., for the celebration.

Guy and Sara have two sons, Guy Jr. and Ron Sievert who is married to Marcia Gibbs Sievert of Fredonia. Guy has retired as Vice President of the University of Portland and Portland Community College and Ron recently retired from the U.S. Department of Justice to teach at the Bush School of Government and UT Law School. They have six grandchildren: Kelly Elliot, Matthew Sievert and Dara Polk from Portland and Tera Deal, Jessica Sievert-Navarro and Rachel Sievert from Austin, Texas.
