Three Ripley
students published
Ripley Central School District is proud to announce that three students, Christian Swoger (11th grade), Tyler Dulmus, (8th grade) and Vincent Shioleno (8th grade) have been accepted in the The Western New York Writing Project 2009 Young Writers' Anthology.
The anthology highlights the talent of Western New York students from kindergarten to 12th grade. Students submit short stories, poems, plays, and other genres of writing. Artistic students also can submit original pieces of work to the anthology in black and white.
Swoger wrote a short story titled "Wisdom." Dulmus wrote a poem titled "A Big Day." Shioleno wrote a page length short story, titled "The Games."
Each author composed, edited, and submitted their own work and through a panel of Writing Fellows, using a four-point rubric (only 3s and 4s were selected), they were of 200 selected out of 460 entries.
School officials noted it is an honor and a great success that these three students have achieved. On Thursday at 7 p.m., at Canisus College they have been invited to read their work, get an anthology with their work in it, and applause.
